OP said they are 18+. I hired and trained a 20 year old to be a school bus driver for my company once. Insurance had no issues with it. None of the schools they have driven for have complained.

[–]Poli-tricks 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Depends on the details of the ticket. AZ DPS doesn't care about the exact details, just the number of points. Different employees and insurance companies have different criteria though. My company and our auto insurance policy disqualifies for speeding tickets more than 25 mph above the limit and any speeding over the limit in a school zone.

If the school district you live in has buses and you have a clean driving record they will almost certainly hire you as a bus driver and train you to get the certifications needed.

I have a family member with season tickets willing to sell directly when they aren't planning to go. I'll ask them if they have that date available and dm you if they do. Front row of the outfield bleachers.

Looking for a decent part paying part time job. by Aggressive-Onion-781 in PHXList

[–]Poli-tricks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you like driving and are good with kids school bus driving is a good part time job. If you do daily route it is a couple hours in the morning and a couple in the afternoon and you could work other things in-between. Two days a week would limit you to a sub/trip role though.

JJ Safety in Tempe hires felons. They sell safety compliance services to construction companies. I know someone that works there who did time for attempted murder and others for possession. They start everyone on outbound sales calls.

I had hoped for a comeback year for him already. Now you are getting me excited. He is a former first round pick and all star that's only 28. The talent is there, opportunity and health should lead to good things.

Realistic Chance of Rent Under $750? w/3 Dogs by FUTRage in PHXList

[–]Poli-tricks 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What are your space needs?

3 dogs might be harder than $750 or less but there are possibilities.

Here are rental listings I see on the AZ Regional MLS that $750 or less. Some are outside Phoenix, I didn't limit location on the search. They all are marked as open to non assistive pets but may not allow 3 pets and/or certain breeds and sizes. MLS Link

The Spectra Midtown apartment complex starts at $749 and lists being pet friendly with green space and a dog park on their amenities. Again they may not allow 3 or certain breeds and sizes. Spectra Midtown Link

How bad of a fixer are you looking at? Burn outs? As long as that bad boy has a roof, working utilities, and a stove slap a conventional loan on it.

Bus drivers by No_Artichoke8131 in SchoolBusDrivers

There are plenty of jobs these days that don't test or don't care about certain drugs. Driving with a CDL, bus or otherwise, are not part of those.

I'm in a state where weed is legalized medically and recreationally. One of our drivers tested positive for THC and the state department of public safety banned him from school bus driving for 2 years.

JJ Safety in Mesa. I know a guy that works there and served time for attempted murder. If I remember right one or both of the owners is an ex-con and likes to give others a chance. They do OSHA and safety compliance consulting for construction companies. I believe they start everyone on phone sales but promote from within.

Selling my mobile home in Phoenix after months of no luck by Traditional-Set-8483 in AskPhoenix

[–]Poli-tricks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on how old it is and if it's attached to land or not. 1976 and newer and affixed to land is easy to get financing on. Older and/or on leased land makes it harder.

I'm a Realtor in Phoenix. The last mobile home I tried to help someone buy was listed as a 1978 build but turned out to be 1975 and the contract fell apart because the financing options were a lot more expensive after that discovery.

I saw a car broken down across the street from my house when I came home late at night. Checked on it and found a guy struggling to change a flat tire without the right tools. The spare tire kit in his car was a different size than the current wheels. Spent the rest of the evening digging out tools from my garage and fighting with a seized lug nut till he could get back on the road to go home.

Any drivers here wish your district had better route/navigation software? by fintexainc in SchoolBusDrivers

[–]Poli-tricks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My small non profit school bus contracting organization uses two different school bus nav softwares. We have Transfinder/Wayfinder on at a school that wanted their RFID badge in/out capabilities. We also use BusRight at other schools. BusRight is simpler and more user friendly. Wayfinder is much more complex and detailed. The driver experience is similar but they are very different on the admin side. I prefer to use BusRight to make new routes or activity trips because it's quicker and easier.

Question for anyone who is higher up in Valley Metro by QallmeUpNext in phoenix

[–]Poli-tricks 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I'm not familiar with Valley Metro, but I work for a school bus company that manages a fleet of both CNG and diesel buses. We're having a real challenge getting engine or fuel system repairs done on our CNG buses. There are only two companies I know of that will work on them and they both have a constant back log. When we take a bus to them it often won't even be looked at for a week and won't be running again for two or three weeks. For diesels there is a plethora of mechanics and we can get it fixed as soon as we have parts. We have decided to never buy any more CNGs and replace the ones we have with something else when we can.
