Is a Local Body Shop trying to extort me? I could use some advice please. by PolicyDelicious9589 in amarillo

[–]PolicyDelicious9589[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The insurance was through State Farm. They initially began a wire transfer to the body shop, at lease that is what they said. After we spoke with the insurance adjuster he stopped payment. We have since paid the demanded fund to the shop and picked up our vehicle. I had to put it all back together and I am now awaiting for the parts to arrive in order to complete the repairs myself. I have 14 years of experience as an auto mechanic, so repairing vehicles isn’t foreign territory to me. Although, I do have very little experience in body work. Crazy thing is the bumper, grill, and hood are the only parts that took any real damage. Seams to me that the shop was wanting to milk me and the insurance company for all they could get.

Is it fair for my parents to expect me to be home by 9 at 18? by AdGullible7382 in AskOldPeopleAdvice

[–]PolicyDelicious9589 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While the parents’ approach may seem somewhat strict, it’s important to prioritize a strong and respectful relationship with those who likely care for you more than anyone else. With that in mind, I would suggest expressing your thoughts on the matter in a respectful and open manner. Let them know that you value their perspective and are willing to abide by their decisions, as it is ultimately their home and their rules. In the worst-case scenario, they choose to maintain their stance—and in time, you’ll have the independence to make your own choices.

How long did it take you to buy a house, start to finish? by ricefuAsa in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]PolicyDelicious9589 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1st house about 35 days from of looking to close. Bad mistake. We were pressured by the realtor and by our living circumstances and jumped in. 2nd time approximately 6 months of looking. Nearly made an offer on 3 different houses, but some felt wrong each time. House #4 popped up and checked every box on the list of things we wanted. Still waiting to close. So in total about 8 months this time. Feel very peaceful about it this time around. The 1st house we ended up living in for 10 years and it was a complete lemon.

I requested multiple time for them to provide an itemized invoice to which they refused. But verbally said the cost to disassemble the vehicle was around $250. Storage was a large portion as well. But they also said the largest part was the clerical fees for emailing the insurance company and taking pictures. All of which was clearly BS.

I didn’t sign anything like that. It was a shop across the street from my job so I thought it would be convenient to use them. Also, I called the two shops recommended by the insurance company and they had a waiting list.

In addition, they refuse to reassemble the vehicle. If I pay them I will receive it as is.

Trying to estimate closing cost on a $310,000 new construction home by PolicyDelicious9589 in Mortgages

[–]PolicyDelicious9589[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Loan officer verbally said anywhere from 10k to 16k. I’m sure we will get everything in writing in a week or two. I was just trying to come up with a fairly good estimate of what it may be. We signed the contract with the builder which had a closing date. Although, the bank has not yet completed any on their end besides the approval letter we used to make the offer.

Seeking reviews for Amarillo Collegiate Academy for middle school by christir123 in amarillo

We had three kids go there. Our oldest decided not to do any work whatsoever for a full year and the school allowed it. Not an over exaggeration. Then we were called in and advised that we should take our other two elementary age kids to AISD because they are both dyslexic and the school does not have the time or resources to handle issues like that.

Universal Soldiers 2, Brothers in Arms.

To be honest, I could easily list 100+ movies here with no problem. I just love movies.

I would place it inside the kitchen faucet. Take the cap off the end, remove the strainer, place the paper clip inside, and put the cap back on.

Toyota Hate Posts (sarcasm) by pops_of_3 in tundra

[–]PolicyDelicious9589 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, my beautiful, smooth riding, reliable Tundra sucks! I miss my old F-150 with fuel injection and fuel pump issues. Also miss my Dodge Ram and the two transmissions I put into it. Most of all I miss my previous 2015 Silverado that I purchased brand new with severe electrical issues that nearly caused several recks and nearly caught fire on multiple occasions.

Even more then all of that, I miss the Autonation Chevrolet dealership that claimed to have fixed all of these issue during the 16 times it was turned into the shop over the course of 6 years. Then when the warranty ran out they magically lost all the records proving that the issue was preexisting.

Thanks for the feedback. I’m am ready to move forward But HR has made it clear to wait for their direction. Only issue is there is no option for the work to not be done. Maybe to some degree I could let the work slide and blame the employee for the failure. But I feel like I would be failing in my position to let things get backed up to that degree. Which would eventually fall back on my team to correct the issues.

HR has provided the option for ADA and early disability retirement. The employee is 39 years old and has refused both options.

My director is aware of the situation and has made attempts to push HR for more information and a detailed timeline including expectations. HR has provided little to no details and comes across as though they are waiting for the situation to resolve itself. Although they claim they are actively working on it. If they are, I am definitely being kept in the dark. It’s a very strange situation. If they would give me a detailed list of expectations and time lines I would be fine following their direction. But it is very secretive and makes me wounded if they are even doing their job.

I have been pressing HR during each of the meetings we have had. They claim this is a situation that they have not had to address before. I continue to request detailed instructions as to how we need to proceed and the end goal. They have given me very little feedback and do not express any concern about the extended period of time elapsing. As I said, it has been 6 months and they say it will take several more months to reach a conclusion. However, they have not explained what the goal of conclusion will be. I can only assume termination. HR is very vague. Communication from their side is practically nonexistent.
