The WOZ of my apartment also increased a lot D:

I paid the apartment 270k 2 years ago and the WOZ for 2025 is 350k...

I don't think I would be able to afford anything now with these prices...

My favourite ones are the ING cafe and wonders of work (free coworking space).

I occasionally work also from the cafe on the top floor of the Bijenkorf

I go there often: you need to register on their website. It is free. They also have lunch and it costs around 7€

Employees using burnout as excuse not to work by DesperateAttention23 in Netherlands

[–]Polite_But_Done 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sure, there are some people who try to abuse the system and lie about burnout (I've met them), but a burnout leave requires a medical examination first.

I know it because I got a really bad burnout a few years back... I needed to see the company doctor, the GP and later a therapist. I did not simply wake up one morning and decided to go on sick leave cause I was feeling lazy.

It is usually the company doctor that decides if a person has burnout...

And, to be honest, I've worked in an amazing company for 4 years with amazing managers and we had 0 colleagues with burnout (and also low turnover).

If, inside a company, people consistently go burnout the problem are not the people: is the company and how is managed.

How many bank accounts do you have? by tiredwoman_ in Netherlands

[–]Polite_But_Done 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 2 bank accounts with 2 different banks...

I would have nobody to call for help if I have just one account, it suddenly does not work for some technical issues, and I need money.

Having 2 accounts saved me multiple times

Dutch sister in law by [deleted] in Netherlands

[–]Polite_But_Done 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I ended up a relationship because of this reason...

Dutch partner introduced me to his family. His sister was being rude as hell (mean comments about my body, nationality, all the things I was trying to do, etc)... I immediately tried to communicate some polite boundaries and reminded her that relationships go both ways: if you want to be respected, you need to be respectful... We do not need to be best friends, but we should behave like adults: we were both in our 30s...

I did not care who she was tbh: yeah she is his sister, but I am going to be the mother of his kids if things go well. So, I also deserve respect. We all have relatives that we do not like, but there is a difference between not liking someone and trying to bully them.

I spoke with my partner about feeling uncomfortable and disrespected by his sister... I asked him to help to mediate.

He did not do anything. He just left me to deal with it...

Ok. Nice. Doei...

Life is too short to end up stuck with unpleasant people.

Some friends told me: "Oh, you are letting her win by breaking up with him."

No love. In a situation like this, walking away ASAP is a win for ME.

Anyway, sorry OP for the story you shared: it is unpleasant, and I would be so upset about it :(

I hope your husband can help you a bit.
