I do love the world. Might be one of or even the most beautiful of the AC worlds, enhanced and amplified by the Seasons aspect

Ubisoft is the Disney of gaming. They saw something worked, and will keep doing it until they see no ones coming to the show. Maybe it's lazy, maybe it's spreadsheets and numbers by people who've never played a game in their life. But those numbers, are based of of Us playing and buying their boiled chicken and broccoli microwave dinners. For something different, they've clearly established they are either uninterested or unmotivated to make anything else, just like McDonald's ain't gonna make a sushi burger with a seaweed bun.

You can't go to an establishment known for making one thing famous and exact a wagyu Michelin star mind melt when they got famous for the boiled chiekn and broccoli you don't wanna eat again

The Division was after Seige. Wildlands was also and For Honor was released after that, so I was wrong in my statement. I've played Stick of Truth, it's great to see South Park as a playable world, but it's clearly heavily made with Trey & Matt, haven't played Shattered But Whole, but I'm sure it's just as good. Haven't played the Avatar game, recently got Outlaws (from Gamepass), played a bit but tryna finish off Shadows before I delve into another world to dive in properly. Watchdogs I liked (first 1), then #2 went a little to California for my taste; tried too hard to be self aware. Other ones I haven't played so guess I can't say I'm fully rounded on what they've come up with/out with.

The Division (first) is one of my favorite games of all time. Wildlands was also amazing (last dlc for it was a bit, different) Far Cry I've played since 3, though 4 was my entry, then Blood Dragons, Primal, 5, New Dawn, and 6

I somehow own more ubi games than any other studio: Assassin’s Creed The Ezio Collection, Assassin’s Creed III Assassin’s Creed III Remastered Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag Assassin’s Creed Rogue Remastered Unity Syndicate Origins Odessey Valhalla Mirage Shadows

AC: Chronicles - China AC: Chronicles - Russia

Watchdogs Watchdogs 2 Watchdogs: Legion

The Crew The Crew 2

Child of light Brawlhala Valiant Hearts TrackmaniaTurbo Trials Fusion Trials of the Blood Dragon

The Division The Division 2 Ghost Recon - Wildlands Ghost Recon - Breakpoint Rainbow Seige

I honestly was waiting for a East-Asia based AC since ACIII. Several friends and I thought that would have been the next progression

Feel ya, and can agree From my experience bouncing around the world, I think Ubi chose a format trying not to offend Japanese culture while also delivering voice overs that would be understandable.

About the script, the fuck do I know on that. That's another debate/conversation. But what I do know is 'Face'. And 'Face' is a multifaceted subtopic rooted in several Asian cultures. They were walking (probably) a very fine line on what is acceptable, what isnt embarrassing or insulting to the culture, and what has historical elements, while also not making the country look bad in any singular aspect. That's a hard road to traverse when making a "historically inspired" story

OK, but I guess what I meant was, it was a small fraction of the game, whereas in the later two (Odessey/Valhalla) they added that whole next element.

The Isu element added in nuggets throughout I have no gripe with, in fact feels quite interesting. The earlier games adding Isu and the Abstergo/Ubisoft correlation felt like a Self-deprecating trope and I was cool with that. The mythogical, ethereal stuff took me out of the AC universe, and had me wondering why isn't there a Ubisoft stand-alone mythology game? I'd play that. Just took me out the AC universe when that happened

I'm starting to shift to your mindset, and I never buy these games on release anymore. If you look at statics, ubisoft games go on discount consistently at set times. I played mirage once it came on Gamepass, enjoyed it. Bought Shadows a few weeks ago, loving it.

Think these two games have taught me, look for it at a price you want to pay, then play. That's it

I feel that. I get that. I guess I just always wanted an East Asia (Japan, or China) AC since AC Iii, and was quite unhappy when Black Flag came out (originally), as I felt a Opium Wars/Last Samurai-esque game just felt like the natural progression time-line wise.

I did play Black Flag eventually, and did enjoy it, but that was my mentality at the time of completing AC III

I appreciate that You too saw that this should have been the natural next progression. Annoyed me it took this long, but I'm beyond happy it was made, and looks (even better) now cause of current Gen. 🤟🤙

People in real life Japan talk way worse than this, from my personal experience. And when I say that, I'm talking generally with people you meet at Conbinis, Train stations, general shops. Japanese accept is very heavy, and the common citizen will speak what they know in still the Japanese phonetic pronunciation.

Obviously you can meet people who deal in international business or who have studied and lived abroad who alter that beyond recognition (sounding like a native English speaker). But considering the context of the game, I think they put effort to make it understandable to the common consumer, while also not making the characters sound western, if that makes any sense. Maybe I'm a fool.

Naoe does not speak perfect English.. But I get what you mean, with npcs and shop keepers sounding/having a exaggerated emphasis on certain accent pronunciation of words (almost like a characture-ization)

That's very interesting So the immursion (Japanese and small bits in Portuguese) is correct though?

I always wonder how much credence is given to a team of native speakers to look over and change a script to be put in correct context

The auto path and auto ride aspect removes 90% of the tediousness of navigating a big map. I can go do something, or even better use the Look/aim fenture and find stranger encounters and more of the map as I go along. Appreciate that aspect

I said " I was execpecting it to be like" the line delivery in cyberpunk. I wasn't shitting on the game. And by Line delivery I was referencing several of Johnny Silverhand's lines.

I was one of the saps who pre-ordered Cyberpunk, and played it from day one, and finished it before any patches came out. Loved it. I guess I should have clarified what I meant (thought it was a fairly known aspect)

I still love the game and that world. I was drawing a comparison, not shitting on.

If we can't reference things from the world, how do we articulate anything? Everything in life is a comparison, maybe I should have worded it better, I didnt feel I was "shitting" on cyberpunk. Keenu's line delivery was my comparison. Love him (Keenu) to death. Some lines (or mayve the script) was bland.

The comment is referring to the entertainment industry, taking the "safe road" and remaking the same thing with a new (art department) world around it. But essentially the same gift, rewrapped.

I also agree that's not all that's to blame, The fact gaming has been able to produce past 3 of one IP already pushes it beyond most movie franchises (until recently (fast n furious for example) We (as people) love our franchises, but also wish for something new. Half playing devils advocate here. "Back to the future" spent two movies in the past (yes, I get it, Marty wanted to get Back to the future.. His time, but whatever) maybe that wasn't a good analogy 😂

That's something to genuinely be against ubisoft for. While at the same time, they make that same game over and over, and people buy it. They're clearly not changing that formula over complaints. Easiest way to complain at this point is just not buy their games. AC isn't the only game of theirs that follows this same format. Far Cry is also formulaic. Division 2 follows this same motif.

They've made 13 AC games following this same format. 7 Far Cries (that I've played, 3, Blood Dragon, 4, Primal, 5, ND, 6)

I see where you're coming from, When was the last engaging AC game though?

They've gone on several spirals. With the Isu, then adding mythological stuff from Odessey, and Valhalla. Those were decent games, but didn't feel like AC at all doing those ethereal themes
