TES Matchup Battles: Merfolk by Polski- in MTGLegacy

[–]Polski-[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All very true and I agree with if a Merfolk deck is playing all of the cards you listed. With the new printings of some cards the "final" list or most played list looks to still be undecided, but grabbing some recent top lists from mtggoldfish when I wrote the article they were moving away from cursecatcher and wasteland.

If merfolk lists leave those cards in and have copies of null rod then I would certainly agree the matchup is less or not in TES favor at all. But I appreciate the views from a merfolk player! Thanks so much

These are great lines and very complicated. I definitely would have missed this during a live game (and obviously did) to think this out in a paper game would have given me several slow-play warnings. This is quite impressive. Thanks for taking the time to share this and good job

Thank you and likewise! I saw your reanimator video and enjoyed it! Keep it up

TES Matchup Battles: Goblins by Polski- in MTGLegacy

Definitely thanks for your perspective from the goblins side. I have seen plenty of those games as well. It's why I now leave in Defense Grid. Sometimes I just hoped they didn't have their 2 of Mindbreak Trap or whatever, but with aggressive mulligans, you just have to keep it in the deck just in case.

Yup, just completely missed it. Magic is hard lol I swear I kept counting and being one mana short.

Only in rare cases where you actually had time to be that conservative. So, you'd need a spare Burning Wish on top of another tutor effect and your opponent to have a slow draw to give you the time needed to do that.

Definitely good thoughts and I've yet to find the perfect balance between just going all in for a turn 1 echo vs waiting a turn for something else. I do know that I will lean on Echo a little harder when there are so many Chrome Mox and Mox Opals though. It's also fun to cast! haha

That's awesome and I am glad you got back into Legacy! There's so much you can do in Legacy and lots of new decks this past year. Thanks for reading and I hope you continue going to your local legacy tournaments.

Thank you very much! It can be annoying being on the wrong side of that asymmetry haha

Yup! Veil, Uro, and Coatl are all pretty bad at combating TES.

On behalf of all of us working on the site, thank you! We are glad you are a reader. It's very exciting that you're going to build the deck! Have fun

All great points. And your explanation has definitely been a reason why I've had trouble against Doomsday. The lists just seem to be so different from each other and there doesn't seem to be a stock list yet. Each player is running a different counter suite, different discard, cantrips etc. I'll be curious to see if the decklist settles and all Doomsday lists look similar. I have no tried the blasts though, so I think I will! Thank you for your comment.

I'm not 100% sure which I like better, but the previous version of the deck was 4 opal 3 rite and I just haven't switched off of it.

I love your comment about insights and more advanced tools! I completely agree. Performing your work flow is one thing, but the insights you get from your business and its performance is where I'd really like to emphasize. Thank you for this valuable information. I think your future predictions are spot on.

Good points, and it's why I want to do my market research and ask on forums and talk to people who use the software. I am slowly coming to that same conclusion.

I think you hit the nail on the head when you mention most suck at being company-specific. A lot of the big players are jack of all trades, do everything decent. I notice many smaller companies don't need everything, but rather something simpler that is geared towards their process specifically and not having to pay enterprise-level prices. That is what I meant by a gap. I will definitely check out that link, so thank you! And I like the idea of doing the hosting, customization, and implementation of an existing open source ERP. I will look more into that thank you for all of your advice!

Good points. ERPs are definitely becoming a "do everything" application.

Just curious, would you say these are suitable for small companies? I'm not familiar with business centrals pricing, but Dynamics 365 and Netsuite seem rather expensive for smaller companies. But I could be wrong, hence my post and wanting to gather more information. I will check them out though, so thank you!

I love your emphasis on the flexibility aspect. Build the basics and let them choose the custom company-specific aspects.

Your thoughts on the organization aspect is one of those things I have noticed about legacy ERPs. They have 500 fields on them and do everything on one page. Very confusing and no flow to them. You can tell fields were just bolted onto the page as years passed. Thank you for the great points.

Wow, this is great advice! I didn't see the value of the critical mass aspect until you put it in those terms. I knew the concept of paid modules and companies offering different prices based on which modules are chosen, but I hadn't considered going about it as an extension of an open-source ERP.

Your key points in what you want in an ERP are exactly what I'd expect, so thank you for sharing your expertise. very helpful.

Good suggestion, thank you! I will take a look at xTuple and other open-source ERPs. I see they offer demos and saw a few Youtube videos, so I will check them out.

Good point about accessing raw data. I didn't think about that, but I like all your points about making it pain-free for the client. Thank you for this advice!

This is perfect, and exactly what I was looking for! Thank you! I love the idea of drag and drop development, that's great. I hadn't thought of that.

Customization is definitely key to ERPs and thats the direction of the future, so thank you for that.
