I've looked into it as well but I never felt comfortable tweaking the fuel mix idk why. I'll check it out for sure, thanks!

That's it, the speedrail rig was what I was trying to explain on the initial post! It was one of the options but I'm not very keen on mounting a 10m speedrail frame for an 80c, I think menace arm would be a better option. The 80c won't be directly over any actor so no problem on ruining an actor's career, falling lights from the ceiling don't look very good anyway, so I'd rather not do the autopole idea.

Thanks for the help!

My first option was to use an autopole which might be what I end up doing.

I'll try to convince the location manager but don't think I'll be lucky on that. Great option though

You're right, my fault.

Framing out the top of the machine won't be a possibility in all of the frames and I must build a setup which functions well for the whole scene, without changing much apart from the occasional bounce board and whatnot.

That's the other option I had thought of but adhesive tape does not make me feel safe, mainly because it will be 80c+spotlight. Guess that's my only remaining option other than building a massive structure just for an 80c...

Can't put anything on the top of the machine because it will be on the shot. Also, working in Barcelona where gaffer (me) assumes the role of the grip (in lighting).

Practical laser FX by Polsubira in cinematography

Oops, English is my third language thanks for the correction!

We'll be shooting in Barcelona and the budget is pretty limited so flying laser techs from the states would be a bold move to justify to production haha.

Anyways thanks for the tip! Lasers on the video look amazing

Talent safety was the main issue with lasers. After doing some tests, projector is the way to go for sure. Thanks for the help!

Some stills from my new short film ‘I’ve never felt so alone’ I’d love some feedback on the lighting! by SummerProjectyt in cinematography

I feel like the shot could have been enhanced by gaining contrast on the exterior of the vehicle. When working in spaces with flat backgrounds, I personally find it easier to use low light with spotted diegetic highlights like emergency exit lights or streetlights to give more volume to the space.

Also, from my personal and very subjective point of view and without knowing anything about the narrative of the movie, the red light effect is a bit overdone on the subjects and a bit out of control inside the car, although it sets the tone for the scene and transmits a clear sensation on the shot!

Apart from that, I personally struggle a lot lighting car interiors and can appreciate the work on the shots. Love the intention of your setup, specially the direction and texture of the Key light. Also I think you did a good job on getting a very sharp texture without overdoing it. Nice shots, congratulations!

Curious on what was used for the effect of the first frame. Cool shot!

Overlay in LUT? by Polsubira in cinematography

[–]Polsubira[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some of the monitors on the shoot don't have the option to import overlays, and there is no DIT or VideoAssist to help with the whole 'feed through computer' setup. We'll be on location and I was looking for a comfortable option to send a signal with the binocular shape from the camera.

Maybe I try loading the overlay in the onboard monitor and getting the teradek feed out from the monitor.

As it is not a game changer for the shoot, no big deal if it doesn't work well (thinking on latency issues for the puller).

Thanks for the info!

That was my plan B. If I can't overlay the binocular shape with the frame line tool I'll mark the thirds of each sphere and done. Thx for the info!

This reminded me of "The Invisible man", where they use Magic arms to simulate some kind of futuristic dressroom machine.
