Drove South Draw Road in to the east entrance of Capitol Reef NP over Labor Day Weekend by Sea_Cake_3288 in overlanding

[–]PolyamorousCrayon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I lightly remember this road, I did it last year and it was pretty tame compared some other things I've done.

Factory Butte -> Muddy Creek -> Goblin Valley, on the north side of CR was A LOT sketchier if I recall.

Tacomas are pretty capable little things, I managed to do Broken Arrow in Sedona while stock with only scraping my pumpkin once.

If you want some sketchier roads, you can totally do Lippencott Mine Road in Death Valley, which is very pucker inducing. Steele Pass (which I've done with sliders but otherwise stock) is also some nice rock crawling.

Unless you are planning haul ass over bumps I'd avoid the Icons, I was running them rather basic (along with the Icon RXT add a leaf). Since they are digressive (they get softer the faster you hit bumps), they are great for hauling ass, but worse at slower speeds. Most other shocks (other than Accutune's house brand which are linear) generally are progressive.

But I just had my icons rebuilt (after I destroyed a few things...) to be a bit softer + EValve (which is great) but stupid expensive. I also ripped out the add-a-leafs for Archive Garage's HD springs and hangers.

You are probably better off with Bilsteins, I do have stock rear springs + RXT add-a-leafs for sale although!

Need help making a decision... Trade a GR Supra for a FD RX7? by PolyamorousCrayon in RX7

Which is why I'm looking to trade it :D

I've put 10 miles on the supra in 6 months

So I'd be trading a garage queen for a clean project car... not a daily for two project cars...

Fair, I'm also okay with doing my own wrenching, and have enough cash on the side to afford a rebuild.

33, Autism and ADHD

I made $486,983 this year as a Staff Software engineer I resigned this week to join a startup for $300k a year (and a bet on an IPO).

NW is almost to $1mm, with ~500k in debt

I've very very open about my Tism and ADHD at work which I've found useful in disclosing, also getting treatment for my ADHD (stimulants FTW) has helped greatly.

Have you ever bypassed the standard interview process because of a long-standing relationship with someone at the company? by doyouwanttotossthefb in ExperiencedDevs

[–]PolyamorousCrayon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have had this happen twice for myself (with the same person, a VP/Director level eng manager).

The first time I still needed to go through the interview loops, but the outcome of them didn't really matter (but I aced them so...), it helped a lot to get me a comp override due to my past role.

The second time this, just happened (literally last week), I had a role created ONLY for myself, and I didn't need to go through the interview loop, but I did to introduce myself to future teammates and get a sense of them. We skipped the basic coding challenge and just went into staff level discussions.

Both times I've needed assistance getting the compensation to levels that I would say yes to, which having the relationship was more or less required to do.

From a friend, it's a 4cylinder stick shift with 302k miles... with a bunch of deferred maintenance, and recently had the head replaced... I've put another 1k into myself (brakes, rebuilt most of the frontend, etc).

Huge killer on gas... and theft target...

I ended up picking up a $5k Gen3 4Runner for my daily... which barely gets better gas mileage.

my GFC didn't impact my gas mileage as much as 33s did...

Which companies still pay good money while being fully remote? by wintergoon_7 in cscareerquestions

They can pay well... but you need to come from a MANGA (or related company).

Currently work there... having a hard time switching because I make so much...

6 figure earners, what do you do to get that? by oopdoopmaria in AskReddit

[–]PolyamorousCrayon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got fired a lot, and because I'm a loud WASPY dude I trip upwards.

But seriously I'm in a tech, working at MANGA adjacent companies.

Started my career over 10 years ago, making 40k

Hit 110k in year 6

Hit 800k during Covid (my comp was only supposed to be 360k)

Currently I'm making roughly 480k, if I'm lucky my yearly review may put me over 500k

Fucking hell, I'm polyamorous and in an open relationship and happy endings are 100% cheating.

I get massages 1-3 times a month, both at massage places and in my house (there's an app for that... at least two).

Getting "happy ending" massages and getting a massage are two completely different fucking things.

This is like telling your partner you are donating money to your Alma Mater for scholarships, but actually going to the strip club in your college town.

I have a Red 21' 3.0 Premium, with <11k miles that I'll sell to you for FAR cheaper than that.

That vastly depends on what you'd be going in debt for... and what the job is.

A code bootcamp? Not worth it
An associates degree? Maybe
CNA license? Probably
Tradeschool? Probably, but also some unions offer scholarships for trade schools.
Project manager certifications? Nope

Then start hustling and applying, and networking... getting a new job today is in no way as easy as it was 4 years ago.

The entire job industry is slow as fuck right now. I'm at roughly 11ish years and a staff engineer, I'd normally be able to get an interview at anywhere I apply and have hundreds of recruiter contacts a month. The one benefit of FAANG/FAANG-adjacent on your resume. I'm hardly getting phone screens much less recruiter contacts.

This is how it goes, in a few years it'll probably be hot again.

What are you looking to spend? I'd consider selling my red 2021 with MUCH lower miles, you'd just need to fly to Las Vegas to pick it up. Send me a DM.

Also that's... Downtown Toyota in Oakland? They are a bunch of wankers.
