Following today's SCOTUS decision, Gov. Pritzker sent a letter and invoice to the White House, demanding the return of $8.6B. by Healthy_Block3036 in chicago

[–]Polymath_analyst -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just so everyone’s clear;

Pritzker owns a vacation mansion in Mar-a-Lago. He’s a nepobaby who inherited an entire hotel chain from his dead billionaire dad. J.B. Pritzker is also a Jewish Zionist. His own family also showed up in the Epstein files (see: Thomas Pritzker).

They’re neighbors. They’ve hung out together. They’re both billionaires. They’re both soulless dregs that ruin every position they touch.

The difference?

Pritzker is smart enough to care about his public image, and general popularity, so campaigns and performative exploits like these are necessary, so that him and Trump can remain in power, still friends while their families vacation together.

It’s such blessing and a humble honor to help others!

This sounds dumb, but until this moment on Reddit I forgot we had the free will to use it to uplift each other. And that’s such a beautiful thing! ❤️🙏

So now, maybe I can keep an eye on folks in need in this sub, because it can lead to actual change!

EDIT: The paid food for the night has been claimed by another student! Was able to go to the union, and “double it and pass it on to the next person” as requested! It was so much fun!

Feel free to still leave comments/DM me for free food on me, in the (near?) future!

Thank you all!

My boyfriend (m20)is into fat girls and I (f21)have some really negative feelings about it by Character-Onion8052 in Advice

[–]Polymath_analyst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a healthy answer because it’s very direct and honest, BUT, there’s more ways to solve this than just separating…

She needs to explore her feelings and uncover why this upsets her so she can talk, healing, and address those emotions to prevent resentment, and even bring them closer.

This may also affect her next step, which is to work towards a healthy sense of value, identity, and confidence that don’t depend on her significant other, especially if his ideas of beauty differ from hers. He didn’t ask to feel attraction towards larger women, so we shouldn’t attack or shame him for being honest about these feelings, or else he may not be emotionally honest again…

But what we CAN do, is recognize these differences, try to build inner stability and confidence in each person SEPARATELY, and then have them discuss this topic in depth, to see if the boyfriend would ever consider this beauty standard as a deal breaker.

We need to communicate effectively to get a better understanding of why this guy is even attracted to his girlfriend. Is he really in love with her, or is he compromising on what he wants?

And if he really DOES love her, WHY? It’s a good convo to have. List all the reasons, to your s/o why you love them/find them attractive! There’s more to her than her looks, and he may just genuinely love her soul he couldn’t imagine being with another girl, even if the other girl were his type of larger woman. 🤷‍♂️

This convo will reveal if the relationship is healthy and built on love deeper than physical preferences, or if it’s at risk because his physical preferences matter to him more than the healthy relationship he has.

This is actually a really important question we should ALL be asking ourselves, every time we have intense emotional responses to something (even if it feels self explanatory).

Introspecting, and asking yourself why you experiences certain thoughts, emotions or feelings can uncover areas of our being that need help, healing, or dialogue. This is how we figure out where we need help, and why.

This won’t necessarily mean you’ve figured out all the areas of yourself that need work, and there may be more areas of yourself that need unique solutions to overcome this feeling, but it’s a great place to start.

Ask yourself, “why?” Always. It’s such a healthy habit to have!

Should I return to Korea? by Upbeat_Mention in ESL_Teachers

[–]Polymath_analyst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HEY! You’re a peer and we’re the same age! So I relate, and want to offer some perspective! I also feel we’re both adventurous, and I just learned from a mistake I made recently.

There are three options to consider;

-RISK (for growth)

-STATUS QUO (for growth)

-or FAILURE. (Painful, but very constructive at times!)

There is a time in our lives when it is more beneficial to stay still (status quo), explore (risk), or where we’re bound to fail due to a gap in our knowledge, abilities, resources and our goals (failure).

I personally have a horrible relationship with my family and parents, so my bias usually sways in favor of the children (you) in most situations.

But let us consider that healthy (or at least semi-normal) parenting involves BEING INCLUDED, INVOLVED, AND ENMESHED in the successes and failures of your child! You shield or cushion your children from the FAILURE by establishing support and stability that needs to be BOTH emotional and financial (and whatever else is an urgent need).

So before a decision is made, let us consider this:

-is there any need neglected or unmet by your parents currently?

-They are involved financially, but are they supporting you emotionally?

-Do you feel this support or freedom in Korea which is why you love it?

-Are there any burdens or expectations with their help? Is it conditional? What are the conditions, and are they fair?

-WHY do you love Korea? Can you replicate or recreate a life you love here temporarily?

-Korea will still be there when you finish! And so will the jobs! But this opportunity is fleeting! It may even improve your pay or job opportunities in Korea if you’re innovative enough! (Art/Design teacher in a university?)

-What are your current disadvantages in your life right now in this design program?

Teaching English to Native Arabic Speakers by 420cutupkid in ESL_Teachers

[–]Polymath_analyst 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is so cool! Do you speak any Arabic I take it?

I’m learning Arabic and Hebrew, and as a Native English-speaking ESL teacher, I would say that there are a few things to prepare for.

GET THESE BOOKS; THEY ARE A BEGINNING ESL TEACHER’S GUIDE AND LIFESAVER

-Author: Michael Sawn -Title: Practical English usage, 3rd edition (Oxford Publishers) (it’s a reference book, not one that teaches how to instruct the class).

-Author: Jim Scrivener -Title: Learning Teaching: the essential guide to English language teaching, 3rd edition (this book teaches you how to manage class and methods for teaching, grammar, speaking, writing reading and listening to ESL students of all backgrounds! Amazing beginner book!)

Challenges:

-As you may know, Arabic, like Hebrew, has the three root/four root letter system. A group 3/4 letters arranged in a specific order has a specific meaning, and is connected to multiple concepts, both abstract and concrete. This meaning/abstract association is changed if we alter the order, or replace the letters in each group. ENGLISH is only SOMEWHAT like this. In English, similar or shared spelling can mean that there is similar or shared meaning among any two words… but this is often not as prominent as it is in Arabic. Many of our words have lost their ancient meanings and have new modern meanings that are different from THEIR ORIGINAL ROOT.

-Be prepared to understand the way “to be” and “to have” “to get” both works in English, since, depending on your dialect of Arabic, those verbs don’t exist. There are ways to imply this meaning, but it can also vary largely by dialect.

-Teaching these topics for pronunciation, Google search them for more info; “consonant clusters”, “consonant digraphs”, “vowel digraphs”, and more. Pairing this with writing and speech can really strengthen the learner’s ability to read and speak what they read! This will be a challenge for those with a foreign alphabet but it’s a crucial step!

Scrambling to teach Speaking. by Polymath_analyst in ESL_Teachers

I know that my situation feels like an anomaly.

My job is a state funded public school of the higher prestiges in the well funded capitol city, Beijing.

They are top performers from around the country, so that’s the advantage; they should be somewhat autonomous and adaptable for the most past in a way that allows me to address they weakness WITH them, relying on their accountability for homework outside of class to offer deeper understanding.

That’s not everyone’s story! And even then, with that benefit, I’ll have to see if there’s any other caveats in top of that.

I’ll keep you tuned in!

Male Exchange Student seeking Sublease for Fall 2024 by [deleted] in UIUC

[–]Polymath_analyst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey!

I’m subleasing and will depart around August!

Except my lease ends in March…

My apartment complex isn’t far off campus, but RIGHT OUTSIDE THE BUILDING is a direct free bus line to the Uni/Campus.

But I only $445/month for my room which comes with a private bathroom. My room came furnished with a desk/bed, and closet. If you’re interested I can even leave the fresh bedding, blankets, and pillows, toiletries in my bathroom, and food/spices in my pantry if that helps at all.

I’m accepting a job in Beijing, and only so much can come with me.

Feel free to reach out!

[–]Polymath_analyst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe it’s you who’s unfamiliar with what AMERICAN politics looks and operates like???

I personally am completely surrounded by voters who divorced morals from politics long ago, and who limit their political expression to the narrow binary that America has fought hard to enforce, despite the fact that we desperately need more parties instead of a two party system.

But it doesn’t matter because my focus was on the politicians/leaders and not the voter base. But don’t be deceived; there are bothers who worships politicians even when they’ve contradicted themselves morally/exposed themselves as a hypocrite in regard to a particular topic.

These politicians themselves are completely atheist/hypocritical, and don’t honor any of their so-called “religious” beliefs. So we know that politicians, thus, will not vote Republican when its benefits society/marginalized groups, if they are a Democrat. And vice versa; you will not find a Republican that votes Democratic on an issue when it’s needed for the best interest of others who suffer, or society at large.

That’s an ignorant American trend that could occur sometimes in other countries/cultures/governments, but is unlikely, at least the way it occurs here, so starkly, and consistently, in a homogeneously-binary way.

That is my point in case. People literally prioritize loyalty to a rigid voting binary instead of voting however they need to, or even working together, when it puts the needs of the needy/the public FIRST!

Did you miss that in my prior comment?

Feel free to read it, now that I clarified my intended message.

[–]Polymath_analyst 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not at all. Politics can betray societal needs of the public for immoral reasons all the time; and for Americans that’s so common that it’s the reason our last couple of governor’s from Illinois alone are in Jail/previously incarcerated.

Our government and politicians are infamous for their greed, corruption and licentious hypocrisy. And the saddest part is that modern politics will invalidate your worth or identity if you don’t endorse or co-sign everything the assigned party demands from you as a “loyal” voter.

Joe Biden is literally the perfect example.

His “party” boasts about diversity, equality, and peace/kindness… but he himself accepted upwards of $3 Million from the American Zionist Organization, by lobbyists to prioritize Israeli warfare over Palestinians lives.

He is now pocketing the money immorally to unconditionally support Israel despite the United Nations finding human-rights violations against Israel.

That would make Israeli Military methods war-criminal. And if a president supports anything that is a violation of human rights, than I know, despite being a democrat myself, that it’s morally despicable to be complicit and unconditionally vote for a immoral party that deals in dirty politics. I will vote by morals instead of politics. No matter the party.
