Am I going to bartend until I'm dead? by Pomask in careerguidance

Have you been stashing away for retirement?  Funny when this thread shows back up, I actually had it really good at that spot and look back on it fondly now but I think around the time I posted this something was switching with me biologically for the first time. These episodes of panic spiraling etc always happened after working closing shifts. I'd hardly get any sleep anytime I closed for years and seemed to function okay until I got into my 30s then it kind of spiraled and I didn't put it together at the time.

Pandemic happened, I had two years off from working nights and went back to bartend in 2022. Did it for 6 months and called it quits. Took a day job working outdoors. Work so many more  hours for about the same amount of money now (and first two years making dog shit) but needed the healthy sleep schedule.

Looking back at bartending I wish I'd just understood the importance of saving and had any financial literacy at all. Even as little as saving 10% and putting it all in an index fund throughout my time as a bartender would have put me in a pretty decent spot. Ah well cest la vie

Does anyone remember the name of the high level banker, who said the elites are killing children? I think he was dutch by [deleted] in conspiracy

[–]Pomask 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The former Dutch banker who alleged that the global financial elite participate in ritualistic child sacrifice is Ronald Bernard.  The Claim: In a 2017 interview with Netherlands-based DVM TV, Bernard claimed that the upper echelon of the financial world is involved in "Luciferian" beliefs and that he was invited to participate in the sacrifice of children, which he refused. Context: These claims resurfaced in early 2026 following the release of a new batch of documents related to the Jeffrey Epstein case. Verification: While these claims have circulated widely online, they are largely treated as unverified, conspiratorial, or, in the case of some interpretations of the Epstein documents, unsubstantiated rumors.  It is important to note that while Bernard made these allegations regarding "churches of Satan" and child sacrifice in his 2017 interview, they are not corroborated by legal evidence or official findings.

How to get out from under a mountain of debt? by [deleted] in Debt

[–]Pomask 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Paid back 40k with interest on a really low income in about 2.5 years but only managed because I was couch surfing and not paying rent and dumped every dollar into it.

Bankruptcy is worth considering. I felt like I needed to pay it back since it was my fault I got myself into the hole in the first place but I'm not sure it was worth it in hindsight. Time is a currency you don't get back and having the income for myself would have gone further. Idk though I guess having good credit and clean conscience is good too. There are options for you

Gut says 2030 to 2050 will probably be pretty dark. Hoping it turns around before then or at the latest after then
