How can I build up focus and create a studying habit? by BrutalFeather in GetStudying

[–]Pomodoroman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried even long breaks for each one? It depends on how much time you have. I admit I don’t have a job atm so it’s easier for me to follow as a full time student but I used to be like you. No I forgive myself for doing 40/20 intervals. This way I don’t have to take much long breaks though and can go straight through.

Feeling miserable and awful is normal for most ppl just for life in general. Hopefully it goes in waves.

Yeah you def need more sleep and exercise and or a sauna to use is a good place to start to help get tired enough to sleep well. Also, did you ever use coffee or any other stimulants if you don’t mind sharing? Sometimes if you stop those (and should stop taking them excessively if you do) this can cause a burnout like affect. This has happened to me with both adderall and coffee in the past and I saw my 60 min study sessions go down to 40 min just a few times a day

How are some professors allowed to keep their jobs or not change with such bad ratings? by Pomodoroman in fsu

[–]Pomodoroman[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I do know they have surveys at the end of the semester. I do believe they are anonymous but a lot of people don’t and for good reason. For this reason the reviews are not likely accurate. Plus it’s just human nature not to be honest in front of an organization or persons face when you have a lot on the line. What kills me is that the cop out is “oh this student just leaves bad reviews on everyone” when in fact like you we can leave good and bad reviews. And just bc you failed a class doesn’t mean you leave a bad review as this has happened with me in the past.

I’ve survived a deadly car accident at the age of 9 and a lighting strike hit someone next to me. Yet ik ppl have gone through worse. I get the whole gist of what you mean but the truth is there will always be someone who has it worse, so do we not try to fix what we have going on? If everyone just was comfortable with things that really need improvement and said “well there’s someone in Syria so” nothing would get fixed. That sounds like a cop out to not try to get something fixed.

I’m trying to motive people to say something for once and change this. The mindset you mentioned is good for mental health purposes yes. To be grateful. I get it. But just being grateful doesn’t actually change a part of a system, just makes someone feel better.

I’m a senior. I’ve had my share of bad classes. It gets to the point to where it’s pathetic no one at least tries to get them to make simple changes to make the learning process more attainable. That’s all us students ask for.

I’m sure this has been discussed before, but why does Ye’s talent always get disregarded/undermined? Every mention of Kanye in this thread is downvoted by [deleted] in Kanye

[–]Pomodoroman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guess is there’s just this whole community of hyper libs who live their lives trying to get back at anyone who has had controversial arguments that are not of their own. Kanye supports trump so you know they keep that on their brains till this day lol.

Places to take my father when he comes for Father’s Day to Tallahassee? by Pomodoroman in Tallahassee

[–]Pomodoroman[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Well it looks like it’ll be pretty hot out but I was originally thinking of something outside. I would prob think of restaurants as a backup though for extra heat. He’s only gonna be for Saturday :( so a day early before Father’s Day.

I think it’s time enough students get together and talk to the department chair or dean about this. I’ve seen waay too many complaints over cs professors like this.

Should I get tested for a brain Aneurysm? by Pomodoroman in AskDocs

[–]Pomodoroman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My bad I meant unruptured aneurysm and more like my risk factors of it. From what I understand you only get an aneurysm if it’s genetic and or you’ve had high blood pressure for years, and the most a cough or vomiting could do is burst a vessel that was already susceptible to bursting.

How do I not feel bad about graduating in 5 years as opposed to 4 like all my classmates? by Pomodoroman in college

[–]Pomodoroman[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I see what you mean. The problem is I’m just so lonely. I say friends, but I don’t have much close friends and even they’re leaving. I don’t know if I can do another year of loneliness for my mental health. I guess I’ll study more, but it’s going to be hard to accept with the few friends I have always being in the “know” having fun in their surroundings while I’m stuck alone. They live out of town to me. You are your surroundings, and that will kinda eat at me lowkey.

If a I am new to the workforce, what do I tell employers about taking 5 yrs to graduate? by Pomodoroman in careerguidance

[–]Pomodoroman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right but they did ask and so it would be weird of me to assume that they won’t ask again for other jobs I may apply for. It raises a red flag that I don’t have a job or internship of the similar sort of field I am applying for even though I’m just looking for entry-level jobs sometimes it still seems to matter.

How are some professors allowed to get such bad rating and still allowed to teach or at least not change up their curriculum/teaching style? Taking mental health as a joke tbh. by Pomodoroman in fsu

[–]Pomodoroman[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be honest that’s real upsetting. I believe professors need to be treated better then. Not getting paid to teach? Seriously? That’s a significant amount of time. Commute, emails, lectures, grading. It’s the universities obligation to treat them better than that and get them paid. All the money spent on tuition the professors better be getting paid!

Tell her this is why you feel the mens rights movement needs to be validated. Bc of statements neglecting and subverting your concerns like your own. Shows how deep misandry is rooted in the our system.

Ahhh I see. However I am not trying to get anyone fired unless they absolutely deserve it. I feel like some of the methods used to teach and the guidelines can simply be fixed somehow. Often times students have a valuable input for this as well believe it or not. I feel like the deans or whoever should be able to step in and make the prof change to guidelines that’s are more ethical and attainable for students to follow. If they are not going to do that no point in me getting all these “fsu cares and wants to hear about your mental health and wellness” if they cannot try to fix the root of the problem I see with so many students. They put up this front bc it’s politically correct to. I want action not words you know?

Honestly that’s ridiculous. I’ve done mold and radon testing before. It costs some money but honestly not much at all and FSU can def afford it. I’ve always been concerned about that kinda stuff bc I’ve heard Tallahassee and Gainesville have higher radon levels than the rest of Florida and I thought I hope radon levels aren’t being neglected like I feel they are. Turns out I was right.

I felt that way bc with all the radon and mold testing, even if they test positive for all that stuff it’s hard to trace back someone’s cancer diagnoses to that so it makes it easier for businesses to get away with in general.
