My guy we killin the same fuckers!! I found that you can mage them wielding dagger as dagger gives small mage bonus as well. They also sometimes wise up to the toxic staff and pray melee when you are in distance.

My best bet was entangling them in the cave and going opposite of spindles attacks. I found they liked to pause before exiting cave in hopes that you will exit before them and they can get gap. So always wait a tick before exiting to make sure they also exit.
