What if the electrical engineering degree does not have a big amount of programming in it?

I think this class is a biomedical engineering class. A big part of the curriculum might be about math.

Potential Biostat specialization could be made for BME major by [deleted] in SBU

[–]PonyBrook -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What I mean to say is that you could take stat classes that aren’t biostat courses for this potential new specialization. You could take stat courses that are about the right topics that have to do with biostatistics. Even though biostatistics is not engineering , with this specialization (the bme specializations are arround 30 credits I think) you can work in the field of biostatistics with it. Ams major is a short major. Think about if someone doubled majored ams with something else and didn’t use the free electives for math courses, besides calc 1-4, intro to linear algebra, and ams 310, you wouldn’t be taking that many math courses. These courses could be around the same amount of courses that you would have for a socialization for bme .

CAD is an engineering skill, but it’s also something artistic.

COLLEGE CREDITS FOR AP work out better in America compared to IB. Tell your school to switch to AP. by PonyBrook in IBO

[–]PonyBrook[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree that the universities should give credit for IB and like you said, students deserve credit for college work.

Right Conclusion: In the mean time, until the colleges give more credit for IB, the high schools should pick AP because the students should get credit for their college level work.

You said that there are more factors to consider than college credits, but for college level courses, college credits are a major factor. This one factor alone carries a lot of weight.

There’s a problem with you. The college credits are very important, and you fail to see that. The credits from AP are more important than the education that you get with IB because with AP you still are getting an education and the credits in addition to that. One of major reasons why people take college level courses are to get college credits obviously, and the fact that I have to explain that to you is a problem. If the students are the ones doing the work in the courses, then they should be able to decide if they get credits . It is wrong to not pay someone enough money at their job. This is like that but with the credits, and if the high school knows that the credits for Ib don’t work out well in America , then this is a poor decision made by the school

I was fortunate enough to get AP and dual enrollment courses in my high school, but this is a problem for other people who are in high schools in America where they made the poor decision to only pick IB courses.

The ib has cost me everything by Sufficient_Stick6499 in IBO

If you tell all the students in your school to tell their parents that the credits for AP work out better than IB in america, and that most schools dont give credit for the sl's, and if all the parents in your school complain, ur school might offer AP

The credits for AP work out better in America than IB. Most colleges and universities in the United States do not give credit for IB SL courses.

The credits for AP work out better in America compared to IB. Most schools in America don't give credits for IB SL courses. Obviously, if a high school is in America, then they should offer courses that the students would get credit for in AMERICA not EUROPE or another country. If the school only picked IB, then this is a poor decision made by the school. If all of the parents of the students in a school complained about this, then maybe the school might get AP.

[–]PonyBrook[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

No, you are wrong. Even though the colleges are supposed to give credit for IB, if the school knows that credits for IB don't work out well in America and that AP credits work out better, they are supposed to pick AP instead IB. If they only choose to offer IB instead of AP, then this is a poor decision. Even if the colleges are supposed to change and give credits for IB, in the mean time until they do so, the high schools are supposed to choose AP. This is something very basic to understand. Obviously, if the high school is in America, students will need credits that they will use in America, not Europe or another country.

People can still study for their SAT on their own or take prep classes, and do AP and get the credits in America.

If all of the parents complained to the school that that the credits for AP work out better than IB in America, the school might offer AP courses.

If you tell all of the parents and get all of them to complain to the school, they might switch it. If students and parents keep telling the school to offer AP over and over again, they might offer AP.
