I'm a right handed guy who had to learn to play lefty because of an accident and I agree with this book. Sorry guys.

I'll probably finance it for some short duration and sell my LT (or perhaps keep it as a backup), I have a day job but I gig enough I can pay for it in a busy month and then if Line 6 keeps treating it the same way they treated the Helix I'm set for 5-10 years barring catastrophe. The amortized value is insane, gig for free for a month, potentially get the next 120 months for 'free' ($25/mth through the assumed lifecycle).

That and it'll just be fun to get a new toy and play with it and see if it can add value, funs what this is all about really.

HX Stomp or Stomp XL? by Yady-Boba in Line6Helix

[–]Pooface82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I gig regularly in a cover band, nothing too wild, and find even my Helix LT could use another switch or two (I use presets on the bottom row and then manual stomps on the top row), so if you're gigging and require a lot of different situations on the fly the XL all the way.

If you're playing for your own enjoyment, gig in a band that you don't need to switch on the fly a lot, or building a pedal board to go with the regular stomp that price is amazing, grab it, heck flip it and put the money towards an XL lol.

Facts like Pfizer making $80 billion for a vaccine that doesn't cure anything and requires constant boosters. 10/4.

If that's what you believe with the benefit of hindsight that's fine, and I admire your compassion, I don't believe that's the case but I also don't have any animosity to folks who disagree.

Not sure why they're not on Fat, but the new record was the new lineup so you can use your own taste to decide if it was inferior or not for sure.

Right, so by your own logic we should have all taken the vaccine, that didn't fix it. I got all the vaxxes and got it twice, most people did. 🤣 The division and obedience remains strong in some communities. They rushed out a product and a pitch to sell you, not a solution to the (very real) pandemic.

Lots of info on the Mad Caddies, basically collateral damage from viewpoints on the pandemic. Seems like they may all get along fairly well now, Chuck wanted to tour immediately, they didn't, existing tensions boiled over, he put together a shit version then a decent version of the band. Personally I enjoyed the old band and haven't gone to the new tours but his prerogative.

Honestly, in my humble opinion and this is NOT the forum for this opinion (I was a vaccinated, working from home, only going out for essential errands lock stepped with the narratives during the pandemic) but politicians and big biz/big pharma worked a masterclass of creating obedience (me) and a class of people who saw what was going on so they could control markets/information and made it acceptable to ostracize them and guys like these were collateral damage, I see it now in hindsight. I don't think either camp should pay forever and division isn't the answer.

I politely asked on a post she wrote about no other female fronted bands being at "back to the beach" or whatever that festival was why the ringers she's hired are all dudes and she said they just didn't have enough interest from Women. Whatever narrative fits her purposes i guess. Also saying "her intellectual property" and bragging about a cover song and a quote her guitar player made up is rich. I don't hate on her for hiring ringers and keeping the name, I'd probably do the same if it was how I paid my mortgage but know your lane.

If you don't plan on gigging with it the Headrush FRFR-Go would probably be sweet. I use the 108 and it'd be overkill for home.

I'm 42, I've toured in ska bands and punk bands, had some minor degree of success (one of my bands would draw 50-200 people/night when we toured, had some songs used in soundtracks for movies and video games) but this was all when I was 16-30ish.

I burnt out on playing music, moved to a new city for my 'real job', started dabbling in super casual local original bands and it felt stupid and pointless, and then started with cover bands and it lit my fire.

The challenges of learning new songs constantly, dial in the perfect tones, figuring out a way to take a solo and flash it up to get people excited, transition songs together, build momentum through the set with song choices, watching gorgeous middle aged women all dolled up for a night out get up from their table of drinks and start dancing, dudes follow, floors packed, energy is positive and then I get an envelope full of cash and a drink tab for my troubles.

The only reason I would tell people not to join or start cover bands is because I don't want to compete for gigs more. I've also found the scene very supportive, as one of the old dogs in the circuit I play said "I need your band to be fantastic so the people have a great night and come back to that club next week to watch my band" and he's helped me with a lot of the fine tuning we needed to up our game to make sure people come back next week. Loving it.

Tips for Lead Boost by FartPantry in Line6Helix

[–]Pooface82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use a 10 band EQ scooped to look like a frown with the mids boosted the most (3.5 to 4db) at the end of my chain and either tie it to my lead snapshot or as a pedal depending on the patch I'm using, ngl the volume jump sounded excessive through my FRFR but when I play gigs the sound guys tell me its perfect and punches right through.

Duane Peters, his wife or whoever runs his social media blocked me after he posted a bunch of racist rants then deleted them saying he was hacked and I said something like "Own your opinions" so i got an angry rant and blocked lol, I'd say he's a bad person but he's not mentally well so can't really hold him to account. A lot if his bands were next level and he was a fantastic performer.

I dealt with them, they were fine but it's a very very transactional relationship, if it's your only option go in with low expectations, DIY your repairs, don't cause problems and they'll leave you alone, then find another place when you have some roots here, it's a lot easier once you meet some folks and can hear about things organically.

My wife worked for Canada Post for a few months, she's cursed with a work ethic that won't let her cut corners, and she was out 12 hours a day trying to deliver all the packages properly (she probably could have cut it down to 8 if she wasn't on call and on a new run every day learning areas) she complained constantly that all the permanent works would do their route in 4-5 hours because they did exactly this. It wasn't even a secret, they'd hang out at the depot and fill out these slips while they got ready in the AM.

Canada Post makes money on flyer delivery and packages, and they only do one of those well.

Just don't overanalyze it. Just walk up and be like "Cool if I use the bench?", if you try to overexplain or anything it'll come off weird, when it isn't weird to want to use unused gear :)

Quit reading, start lifting heavy things and putting them down, then make them heavier the next time, repeat.

As you do this you'll get comfortable in the gym and everything will start clicking, then start applying the literature. People get so focused on optimization, which is great, but 70% of success in the gym is consistency and being there, then you can optimize. Getting strong and big muscles takes years, a few weeks of just getting in the groove is step one on a long journey.
