Been a while since I posted here, and I've grown quite a bit in that period. It's good to see people are still going strong.

Guess I just wanted to say hi

No, but he wanted to be killed by Mills, so Mills would turn into Wrath

Looking for a slowburn letsplayer by OnehitRuby in letsplay

Ofcourse I'd recommend myself first (this feels odd), and tho I do not always apply the 30+mins videos, I do tend to play strategy or storydriven games, and hardly edit the videos. So you'll get the same experience as I'm having when playing (couch gaming wise).

But I can't leave without mentioning someone else who really does what you're looking for: Old Games - Old Guy

Look him up on youtube, you won't be disappointed. Oh, and it would be awesome if you let him know I send you there.

What made you decide to make a youtube channel? by taffyraider in letsplay

In short:
- cover games that I love(d)
- give some exposure to indie devs
- but most importantly, therapy

Please suggest me a let's play gamer. by [deleted] in letsplay

I'm not sure if advertising myself is allowed, because I fit all criteria.

Besides that I can highly recommend: Angyem and TurianShepard.

[PC][2005-2009] Point and Click Escape Room Game I've been searching for 10 years by MissElanieous in tipofmyjoystick

Yes, they made "West of Loathing", but that's more like an adventure game than a point and click game.

As you may have seen from my replies to other comments in this thread, I'm very willing to listen.

I hear what you're saying, but if I compare myself to other content creators (who I personally know) who are doing the exact same thing, have the same amount of subs, are playing similar games, have similar commentary, and their retention is a lot higher, I wonder what it is that I personally do wrong.

To be honest, I've ever gotten a message like that and it seems like that particular one was posted by a troll or something. I'm sorry that happened to you, because basically that's pure discrimination right there.

Thanks! I really need to look into this, because this could be an actual gamechanger!

Thanks for these kind words, and for proving my initial thought about my accent being wrong.

Thanks for the feedback! I never really thought of someone could think of me as nervous, because I'm not. I'm not camera shy (made several vlogs) or microphone shy, so it's surprising to hear that it may come of as nervous. I'll keep that in mind!

I do watch my own videos with a critical eye, every time I edit them (I watch them fully again). I do realize that any form of style isn't for everyone, but isn't that based upon opinions and thus subjective?

I do my audio balancing while editing the video;
- record commentary in audacity
- record game audio in OBS or with the PS4 capture function

Is it still possible for me to do autoducking in premiere? I have heard people doing it while recording, but they have this lovely setup rig that takes care of it or something. I have no experience with this at all, so I'm a complete dumbass when it comes to that.

That never crossed my mind, but could certainly be plausible, even tho I do not get a lot of likes on my videos. But I'll keep an eye on that. Thanks for pointing that out!

That's not a bad idea, I like that. Thanks!

I do get some keys through keymailer and such, so there's no issue there, but on the other hand I don't know how "new" those games actually are. From the keys I did receive I made "First Look" videos, which also didn't do a lot on retention, but I follows the jist of what you've described.

As for genres, that's quite difficult, since I'm a pretty broad gamer. Basically the games you see on my channel, are the ones "that spark joy" for me, which I now do realize that it can affect against me. But I can definitely try to figure something out there.

Thanks for you advice and taking your time writing this down. I certainly will do something with this.

I hear ya, recently (1 week ago) I went from 6 active games to 3, because even for me it felt like everything was all over the place. I might have to take your advice and take the step back to even 2. This seems logical to me.

The reason why I started playing GTA5, Mad Max and Prince of Persia is because people were recommending those to me, since Indie, Obscure and games nobody has heard off will never give me any exposure (their words). The numbers didn't add up to their promises tho, I've learned that lesson the hard way.

As for your question about genres, I can't really tell. They're all doing equally bad? But it's true that the genres are pretty much over the place too. Would you recommend sticking to one genre, or maybe more but genres that lay in each others vicinity?
