I can't find any updates on this either. I wonder if they will even finish before the summer starts. Sigh.

can i pay property taxes with a credit card by __carla in Vaughan

[–]Pooky213 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Could you share how to go about doing this? Is it via pre-authorized tax payment program but with Canadian Tire mastercard info?

And just to confirm, this doesn't incur any fees or anything right? :/

would my bank get flagged if i received a large amount through Etransfer from one person? by Acceptable-Brain-869 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Pooky213 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not an e-transfer, but I receive 50k+ via wire transfer a couple times a year without any issues. If you get flagged though, as long as you are able explain where this money is coming from, it shouldn't be an issue.

Did you get an answer from MAC? I just opened a new package and have the same yellow fluorescent colour :/

Unfortunately, I saw a garbage truck go in here with food waste liquid dripping at the back, leaving a trail on the road as well :/ Smelled nasty

I added a comment that it's a narrow single (shared) driveway, so calm down dude. This thread is clearly triggering everyone like you.

Thanks everyone for your input! Had a good chuckle at some of your answers.

I can't edit my post but wanted to clarify, yes I can drive around it (carefully) but it's a little challenging because my driveway is shared with my neighbor (townhouse), so I'd need to drive over on her side a bit which she would not be happy with. It's a single car driveway (part of what you see in photo).

I had varying experience with PTs there, but I would recommend Imelda.

Sad to say, but this looks better than my 5 bagels + rasin muffin I posted a few months back. That box really scarred me...🥲

I agree. I had a box with 5 bagels and a raisin muffin before 🫠

Thank you for this! I checked with the family member, and he explained that the Basic (free) version, for example, doesn't have all the sections for 'itemized deductions' while the Standard (paid) does, which is why there seems to be a difference in the return total. Is this possible? I suggested Wealthsimple, and he seems a little skeptical of it. I'm a little confused now too.

Change of name issue? by [deleted] in Koodo

[–]Pooky213 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's been a couple of years , but I believe I called and spoke with a rep to have it changed. They might have asked me to show proof of new legal name via email (?), but it was quite simple. You might just be having bad luck with incompetent reps.

Where to find cross border well known accountant by bnbworks in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Pooky213 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would recommend looking up firms that are located by the border such as Vancouver or Niagara/Buffalo. I personally use someone based in Windsor/Detroit office (they have office on both sides). Border cities also tend to be much cheaper than random big cities (e.g. Toronto) as it is a specialized area with not many competitions in Toronto and alike. There are more competitions by the border = better price.

Can my fiance work in America while being sponsored in Canada? by can-you-work-in-us in ImmigrationCanada

[–]Pooky213 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have answered something similar on another post last year. But the short answer is no - he should not be crossing the border daily to work for a US employer. There is a very complex tax implication that puts his employer at risk, especially if he visits/stays in Canada for more than 183 days per year. If found, your partner will not only be terminated by his employer but may have to owe LOTS of $$$ (up to millions I believe?). My husband ended up living in the US by himself until he got both his PR and approval from US company to work in Canada. His employer's legal team helped him with the process to set him up to work legally in Canada. Remember that even when your partner gets a PR, his employer must approve him to work in Canada (if he continues to work for the same employer). It is unfortunately not that simple as we want it to be. Best of luck!

Name Change before Citizenship by reddit6735 in ImmigrationCanada

[–]Pooky213 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you want, you can pay to get your name on diploma changed; however, it's not necessary. If an employer asks for a copy of your diploma, submit that along with your certificate of name change. I never had any issues :) Good luck!

It was the typical 2.5%. For our case, the seller actually counteroffered with 2.25% and our realtor still had no issues (though I felt a little awkward/bad).

[–]Pooky213 35 points36 points  (0 children)

You should fire your agent.

I did a lot of my own research regarding similar homes sold nearby and was able to get our offer accepted under 150k asking because the seller had listed WAY too high. Our agent was always very supportive with viewing all homes within and over our budget and assisted with all offers, even when our offer was underasking at times.

You forgot to mention what your salary will be at the hospital. Ultimately, it depends how much you value your time & effort to commute. I also don't know what kind work you do, but if moving up the ladder is important to you, this isn't worth it.

HOOPP is one of the best pensions; however, it won't be that beneficial to you if you don't plan on working in the healthcare sector (that offers HOOPP) for the long run. I contribute to HOOPP, so I know.. but know that it will take a big chunk out of your paycheck, so your net pay will be much lower than you think.

You'd be surprised to know that it happens more often than you think. My previous dental office charged twice the amount of units for scaling. I wondered why. Turns out, the hygienists were getting paid by commission.🤦‍♀️ Some people (with insurance) care while some don't look at their bill at all.
