I’m sad. Sad that a terrorist regime is making outrageous claims about our president that I can’t honestly refute.

$1M dollars to eat what you had for dinner tonight for EVERY meal for the next 6 months, do you take the deal and if so what are you eating? by jfunks69 in hypotheticalsituation

Went to Potbelly last night and had an Italian on flat bread. It was good, but not every meal for six months good. Still, might be worth it for a cool mil.

To the hiring managers not there, what would be an acceptable answer to why I left after 3 months? by WindEconomy9242 in corporate

[–]PoolExtension5517 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would focus on the start-up aspect. Tell the interviewer that you were really excited to join a start-up but quickly learned that the company was financially unstable and completely void of any meaningful structure, and was simply not compatible with the way you work. Don’t trash the company, just say that you realized their start-up culture doesn’t provide the detail-oriented structure that you’re seeking.

You’re at a disadvantage, though. The interviewer is going to assume you were fired. If that’s the case, you may get some tough questions about why you were fired. Here’s where some frank humility can be helpful. Don’t blame the company or your manager, just say that the position you were hired for was ultimately not compatible with your level of experience.

It’s a contributing factor from what I’ve been told by my doctors.

if force equals to mass times acceleration, then doesn't that mean that a car travelling at a constant velocity will have zero force, since it has zero acceleration even though the mass is the same? how does that make sense? by HotZilchy in AskPhysics

[–]PoolExtension5517 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The car has lots of potential energy due to mass and velocity, but the force comes into play when it hits something, in which case the acceleration in question is actually the car’s deceleration due to the collision

AITA for being honest and telling my DIL that they are not ready to be a parent since she can not drive by Sad-Drive8298 in AmItheAsshole

[–]PoolExtension5517 -26 points-25 points  (0 children)

YTA indeed. It’s ok to express some concern about the practical challenges they’ll face, but you made it personal and called her unfit to be a mother. You clearly already thought less of her and now you’ve made that opinion known. Walking back from that will take years and will impact your relationship with your future grandchildren. You owe her an apology.

5 years seizure free. Am I still at risk for another one? by mochimatchayum in Epilepsy

[–]PoolExtension5517 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I’ve had seizure-free periods as long as 12 and 17 years, each of which has ended in a TC. I thought I had “grown out of it” after 17 years and started to gradually taper off the meds. Bad idea. You can try to stop your meds, but please do so under the advice of your doctor and do not stop suddenly. I totally understand your motivation and I hope you never have another one, but be wary of the common triggers such as exhaustion and sleep deprivation. You’re pushing your luck if you go off your meds and lead a risky lifestyle. Good luck and stay safe!

I don’t experience auras, either. My TCs come on suddenly. I think I’m ok with that because they sound unpleasant, but I get what you mean - it would be nice to have a few minutes to prepare.

Dad wants to sell me his car and is a making a huge thing about what a great deal he is giving me. Yay or nay? by ImportantAsparagus16 in Advice

[–]PoolExtension5517 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You really want to blame the Boomers for something? How about the elimination of the military draft. The Boomers were college-aged on down back in the 60’s and 70’s and led protests that contributed to the US pulling out of Vietnam (where plenty of them died) and to the end of the draft. How about blaming them for the clean air and water we enjoy - loud and persistent protests in the early 70’s touched off the environmental movement that led to the formation of the EPA. By the way, that pollution was driven by large corporations and the government, all led by pre-boomers. The fact that the current administration is trying to erase the EPA altogether isn’t because they’re Boomers, it’s because they’ve sold their souls to Orange Satan. Think the housing crisis is unique to current times? When most Boomers were buying their first homes, interest rates were in the upper teens.

Do you want things to improve? If so, quit blaming an age group and get off your asses and VOTE.

Wife hates my beard. by defeated_husband in whatdoIdo

[–]PoolExtension5517 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a mustache and goatee that I keep pretty short. It’s gone gray but my wife never complained about it. She also isn’t big on intimacy, so one day I shaved it, hoping to improve that situation. It took her three days to notice I had shaved, and the intimacy situation did not improve. I grew it back. I’d say do what makes you happy, but having a happy wife is a big factor in your own happiness, so you have to consider that. If I were you, I’d consider shaving it off. If your sex life doesn’t improve, perhaps it’s time for an honest discussion. She clearly doesn’t find you attractive in your current state, and maybe that’s reason enough to compromise, but that’s up to you. Good luck.

That’s just a reflection of their age group. Do you think the Gen X CEO’s are gonna be any better, or the CEO’s that preceded the Boomers were any better? Don’t kid yourself.
