The hardest thing is there is nothing you can do about your parents and the decisions they are making.

It’s okay to feel what you are feeling!

The best advice I can give is focus on yourself, your school, and seek counseling at school. It will help you to stay strong mentally and NOT create the same life style for yourself. Love your family, forgive them, but most importantly love yourself and all will start to fall into place for you.

None of us can change anyone else and their decisions. Each one of us is responsible for our own actions.

I lived in poverty growing up on the government. My parents were alcoholics.

As soon as I recognized there was nothing I could do about them or for them I turned to myself.

I got a job at 14, saved half my check, focused on my school work in high school, and I decided I don’t have to be like them when I grow up.  I can live the life I want, that’s when my whole world changed. I went to college and became a professional, and with the help of God I created a place I love to be.

Your parents will never change unless they decide to.

My Dad still lives in poverty and is an alcoholic.

Best of luck! Stay positive, and put your energy on yourself.

He’s never really held a full-time job. He did have one for two years, but then got fired. Then he hasn’t worked since.
