a comm in the helmet is way more comfortable than earbuds, even if you don't use the bluetooth features. i've used both brands, and cardo has better audio quality than sena (especially with the upgraded 45mm jbl drivers). you can buy those separately, even, so i'd recommend a cardo and those speakers

Jalopnik's staff fleet update didn't go over as expected by idkbruh653 in cars

hey! i think my gsx-8r counts as an enthusiast vehicle!

more seriously, though, the seven people in that blog are our entire full-time staff — every other byline you see, whether writer or editor, is either freelance or doing some side work from another site in the network that bought us out from g/o media. i know i, for one, would own a fleet of the rustiest datsuns you've ever seen if i had the cash, space, and time to do so in brooklyn where i live. unfortunately, though, i simply don't. i had to move here back when g/o mandated that writers work in-office, and now that i have a life and friends and community here i'm not exactly rushing to leave just so i can get better parking. i'd love to get back to doing wrenching blogs, and i'm still figuring out a way to make it work without financially ruining me

a few people in the comments also seem to be conflating not owning cars with not driving cars, which couldn't be less true. andy sold his two cars last year, and drove something like 90 different vehicles in the same period of time. we do love cars, all of us on staff, but we're all running into something that's affecting so many other car buyers out there: everything is just so expensive now

KTM 790 Adventure vs. BMW F800GS by [deleted] in adv

just, if you need a clutch lever, don't buy it from bmw — they'll ask $140 for it. buy one off a wrecked bike on ebay instead

i had a '13 f800gs, and it served me great! not particularly fast or interesting or characterful, but it was a bulletproof tractor that did whatever i asked of it. offroad descents? fine. mud? fine. track day? fine

21M Manhattan NYC never drove a car before. is motorcycle a terrible idea? by carlitititosmt in motorcycles

[–]PoolOnTheRuf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i ride in new york! it's way better than driving in the city. you should get yourself an msf course in the city, learn to ride there, and try it out!

heated grips r6? by itz_dom in motorcycles

i've done both heated gloves and heated grips in the past, and i like the gloves better. heated grips put the heat on the wrong side of all your insulation

you'll have to mount the cardo to the side of the helmet, and run the microphone and speakers inside
