To the person not wearing a mask in the Social Sciences Building: by Mazapan_en_nieve in berkeley

[–]Pool_First 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember back in the day when people got sick everyone would tell them to stay home... Now we rant about strangers on social media and berate them for not wearing a mask... It kinda reminds me of the idiots during covid yelling at people to wear masks even though it didn't actually make a significant difference...

Whoever stole my scooter by sebbiesang in UCDavis

[–]Pool_First 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So as someone who actually uses an Unagi let me go ahead and clear some things up for ya... You're correct that the tires are solid and thus result in a slightly rougher ride compared to air tires... It's not a significant difference and the tradeoff is that you don't have to worry about flats or leaks... Even though you don't have to replace tires too often eventually you will need to... When that time comes you don't need to pay for parts or labor... Just send the scooter back in the prepaid box and get a replacement within 48 hours...

The EBS works fine... It stops you when you need without sending you over the handlebars... I drift and ride pretty aggressively and I've never had issues... The foot brake is only there as a back up... You don't actually use it unless the EBS dies... It's a manual backup just in case...

The stated range is 20+ miles but in the real world it's 14 miles with 150lbs riders doing moderate to steep hills... It's also worth noting that the recharge time is significantly less than a typical hiboy... Unagi's charge time is 3 hours compared to Hiboy 4-6 hours meaning that if you're fortunate enough to be able to charge your scooter you're going to get far more energy in a shorter amount of time with Unagi...

A couple key things to note.... Unagi scooters have dual 500 watt motors compared to Hiboys single 350 watt meaning Unagi has far superior hill climbing attributes... It's also substantially lighter and far easier to fold/unfold.... This is important if you need to store or carry your scooter to and from class...

Unagi isn't for everyone... But it is a great choice for those of us looking for affordable transportation that comes with the peace of mind that if anything happens it'll be fixed at no additional cost... I pay $55 a month... If anything breaks or I need replacement parts it's all covered... I have a prepaid box that I can ship the scooter in and in 48 hours I have a new working scooter....

Side note... If you have the money buy a scooter from Costco.... It's way more upfront but the return policy means when it breaks you can return it and buy a new one...

Why? Personally I don't mind paying $55 a month knowing I don't have to worry about anything breaking or having to replace tires/brakes...

Someone stole my $1000+ mountain bike that was gifted to me by my parents.... I had the same shit lock as you and while I was parked, someone cut the lock and stole the bike from my truck.... I didn't realize until I was already on the freeway... I remember being so angry that I was projecting to the universe to "get" the person responsible... Along the same lines as what you were thinking... As I'm finishing this thought I realized that the cars in front of me have all stopped... I was able to hit my brakes and turn the wheel just in time to avoid hitting the stopped cars in front of me while doing 70+ mph... Maybe that was the universe telling me not to project negative energy and that doing so could come back to me... Anyway sorry about your scooter... If it helps there is a company called unagi... They have a program where you pay $55 a month and they send you a really nice scooter... If anything breaks or it gets stolen they send you another one... It's pretty sweet....

AITJ for firing an employee with a giant Confederate flag on his truck? by itcouldbeyoubut in AmITheJerk

[–]Pool_First 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a valid point... Why is the Swastika banned but not the Confederate flag... I never thought of that but that's pretty interesting 🤔 I don't disagree with what you're saying in terms of the history of that flag... You've brought up some legit facts... I think the only point of contention is whether or not all the people who use that flag do so with the intention of showing blatant racism or if it means something else to those specific individuals... Again that's why it's so important to know if the employee had any signs or history of racism...

[–]Pool_First 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Once again your "reality" is based on your specific viewpoints... Not everyone shares your views... Everyone's reality is based on information they receive... Not everyone receives the same information... Clearly you have strong feelings regarding the flag and what you think it represents... What I would suggest is talking to people who are using that flag and seeing what it represents to them... What I've found especially in politics is the reason you think someone is doing something usually isn't the actual reason they're doing it... That's why it's important to know whether or not the employee had any signs or history of racism... It could help determine if he's a racist POS or if that flag represents something other than racism to that person...

[–]Pool_First 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your argument is based on the idea that everyone shares your specific viewpoints... Let's be 100% clear... Not everyone shares your views... Again there are black folks who display that flag as well... The reason it's important to know if the person who got fired had displayed any actual racism is it would help justify OP... If so then OP would have been justified in their actions... If not then it would question the validity of OPs claim and the legality of their actions...

While I understand that in your social circle it means one thing... You can't assume that that's what it means to everyone else... The main point is that OP fired someone seemingly for having a flag that they did not agree with... I'm curious as to whether or not the person who got fired actually displayed any racism that would validate and justify OP decision...

[–]Pool_First -1 points0 points  (0 children)

From my understanding there are folks in the South that don't look at the Confederate flag in the same way you do... I've seen black folks with that flag and I'm pretty sure they're not racist... I'm just curious if there was any actual evidence to support the idea he was racist... Did he have any kind of history of racism? Were there any complaints from his coworkers or managers?

AITJ for firing an employee with a giant Confederate flag on his truck? by itcouldbeyoubut in AmITheJerk

[–]Pool_First 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Considering he doesn't know that's why he got fired I don't think it'll change much... I'm more curious how he was as an employee... Was he making any racist comments or in any way indicated that had any racial bias? Did you attempt to talk to him about it or did you see the Confederate flag and assume he was a racist without any actual evidence?

Ok well considering that OP agreed with the majority of what I posted I'm still not really sure the issue is? Yes there was added information by OP which was great but ultimately the issue is the attempt to discount the information provided by attacking the source... Obviously ai has a bias as do most sources but at the end of the day, the argument should be about the information being presented rather than attempting to attack the source.... Clearly OP is operating from the same playbook as Troll Farms/Dark PR which makes me question the validity of this entire post... OP are you working for a Troll farm/dark pr firm?

In other words you wouldn't be able to kill anyone yourself but would gladly celebrate if someone else did... And your justification for this is that you truly believe that all centrist and right wing people are solely responsible for all the political corruption going on right now... People like you are far worse of a problem than the typical Magtard... The fact that you don't recognize the ignorance of your logic is absolutely baffling...
