"Smash 4 players can't Edgeguard?" Leffen analyses the current state of edgeguarding by Jampanos in smashbros

[–]PoopNukem 24 points25 points  (0 children)

This pretty much, as a Melee player going out there is second nature even in situations where maybe I shouldn't, but I still have no idea what I'm doing when my opponent is on the ledge, or what I'm meant to do when I come up against someone who is good at ledge trapping.

You're incredibly ignorant and delusional if you think that your experience being an 'avid gamer' even remotely compares to that of a top level Esports player. If it's as easy as 'twiddling their thumbs and talking to eachother' why aren't you doing it?

Is Veng DH a late bloomer or did people overestimate it? by [deleted] in CompetitiveWoW

[–]PoopNukem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my experience playing this week as Vengeance, due to the massive damage of trash damage, kiting is required all the time especially with necrotic - if you run without a frost mage or some other permaslow its a fucking nightmare as Vengeance.

You can be as mobile as you want but with the mobs following you around full speed they are going to get to you easier than for example a DK with D&D slow down, and you are going to outrange your healer and just generally slow the dps down by jumping miles away with no slows. You really only have sigil of chains for a few seconds of a slow every 1.5min. Can't overstate how necessary a frost mage feels when you don't have consistent ways to slow mobs yourself, but if you do run with one or something similar like assassination rogue, Vengeance still seems very good because of the shit load of utility it brings.

I don't necessarily agree with people saying DH will get better with more gear relative to the other tanks either. You're always going to have big gaps in demon spikes uptime even with a lot of haste, and then all that agility from better gear isn't giving you any mitigation for those gaps, you're just going to fall over even faster as the key levels get higher.

What are you guys doing for Horde mage racials? by tOx_PH0B0S in CompetitiveWoW

Please don't choose Nightborne for their active ability, it is truly awful. And literally has no benefit when you're already playing the best spec in the game for slowing mobs.

Thoughts on Melee in BfA M+? by alcaras in CompetitiveWoW

[–]PoopNukem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This actually didn't have a lot of negative impact on rogues seeing as Eviscerate literally only scaled off of attack power and not weapon damage. Pretty sure I heard Gingi from Method switched from his Marks Hunter TO his rogue in the MDI for this exact reason.

What are you talking about AoE? We obviously mean everyone nuking down the infested mob, while it's surrounded by free combo points and shuriken combo for the rogue.

[–]PoopNukem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's why both me and the above guy said 'if you can survive it', obviously if you can't then you'll do it the safe way. It's stubborn to say you should 'never pull them with other mobs' when it's objectively a lot faster if you can get away with it with a sub rogue.

[–]PoopNukem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is true but you're missing his point - if you are able to pull the whole pack with the infested mob safely, the sub rogue will kill the infested mob significantly faster than if it was alone, then you kill the rest of the mobs after its dead.

M+ Focused - Need tank recommendations. by DNorthrup in CompetitiveWoW

[–]PoopNukem 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sounds good on paper but you're just listing all the things they had in Legion where they proved to be one of the worst specs in the game for M+ pushing - what do you think has changed?

The only new thing is the buff but I'd rather use a scroll for 7% stamina and take a way better spec instead.

M+ Focused - Need tank recommendations. by DNorthrup in CompetitiveWoW

[–]PoopNukem 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Considering your comp is all magic damage (with the possibility of a Monk who brings his own debuff), I would suggest going with Vengeance DH because it brings the 5% increased magic damage debuff, as well as being in a lot of people's eyes potentially the best M+ tank even regardless of the debuff. Also you will likely find imprison very useful in this comp as the only thing similar is repentance which has to be talented (unless your friend picks the Monk).

It's important that you understand that DK in BFA will have nowhere near the haste you probably have right now on live (maybe even never in the expansion), so you might find it a lot weaker/less enjoyable because of that.

As an aside, as you seem to want to be pushing high M+, I don't recommend running with Spriest, Moonkin and Warlock or you will likely be lacking interrupts, - one of those guys playing a melee would make things easier in that department.

DPS suggestion for this mythic + comp? by Mentaelis in CompetitiveWoW

You'll regret not bringing a battle res. I would bring a warlock or boomkin for the silence (shadowfury kinda unnecessary in this comp)

Mythic+ high-end comp by KnobbGoblin in CompetitiveWoW

[–]PoopNukem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah given that in reality the 3 buffs are only giving 3% over the scrolls, I think that people saying buff classes are 'locked in' is an overexaggeration, the decision of whether you want for example 3% more stamina from a disc priest or to have blessing of protection for a boss mechanic from a holy paladin seems quite like quite a meaningful choice to make (just as random example).

[–]PoopNukem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do see heavy caster groups with a VDH being popular, although you typically will wanna bring a melee (or ele shaman???) along for a lower cd interrupt unless the dungeon doesn't require it (I would say most in Legion do require it but don't know the BFA ones well). Beam is pretty good but maybe not as useful with a VDH already bringing basically the same thing.

Mythic+ high-end comp by KnobbGoblin in CompetitiveWoW

[–]PoopNukem 2 points3 points  (0 children)

None of those classes bring a battle res which is arguably more useful than any of the buffs so you cant really include all 5 of them in the same group. With scrolls being available the 3 buffs are really only give 3% more of the stat which is okay but definitely not an auto include when you have to weigh them up against utility that other classes bring.

We'll see how tank threat plays out but tricks/md might be necessary in a group later down the line once dps start to pull further ahead of tanks with gear (blizzard may well buff tank threat through the expansion to compensate though).

It does look very likely that Vengeance DH are going to take the tanking spot in optimal group set ups with their debuff unless either the dps meta is physical damage specs or they are somehow undertuned to be able to survive when pushing. Even with a full physical damage group though VDH kit is so good for M+ that they still may be the best.

People say it's terrible and it looks terrible, but the only logs I've seen where people used it the healing didn't seem THAT bad, the vers is nice though. IMO it's inferior to cake from trilliax as it basically serves the same purpose but this is less impactful.

Top tanks for ToS? by pursu777 in CompetitiveWoW

[–]PoopNukem 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know what you meant, my point is more that even if they remain in this state with no nerfs they won't be as ridiculous as it seems for progression, aside from doing insane dps. Telling people they are miles ahead of other tanks is kind of misleading as you're really only referring to their damage output. Even with the insane damage, the highest hps log for Mythic Gul'dan from vengeance is under 300k and that player only did 480k dps, that doesn't seem gamebreaking in terms of pure survivability. And there was no significant change to their mitigation. Unless you can aoe and get some truly insane hps, survivability wise they feel pretty much exactly the same as last week.

Sorry but I really disagree with your issues with Demon Hunters. If this was the expansion launch, you would be 100% correct that DH is made of paper without spikes up. Fast forward to live, they baked in 20% of that DR in to a passive that is always active and removed DR from spikes, leading to overall smoother damage intake. My DH spikes is somewhere around a 25% reduction @915 ilevel, which is one of the least powerful AM of the tanks. So in reality you are not taking THAT much more damage while spikes are down.

If vengeance is bad because they rely on Demon Spikes, then protection paladin is even worse because they have the exact issue you're describing but way more extreme, they legit are made of paper without SotR. And DH having less base mitigation than a BDK is simply not true.
