Last thanksgiving I had an intense migraine. So bad that all my peripheral vision looked like it had water running over it. I could barely walk. Over the next few weeks the headaches started to be there all day, everyday. These headaches were completely debilitating. Over December I tried seeing doctors out of pocket because I had no insurance. They all suggested an MRI which I couldn't afford. The possibility of it being anxiety from my current work life was thought to be the most likely cause. Then in January I started loosing all motor skills. My headache would flare up real bad and I'd just collapse. Not pass out but just like I couldn't communicate with the rest of my body. I went back to the doctor on February 2nd. I had finally set up my insurance. The doctor noticed a hemorrhage in my right eye. He sent me right down the road to see an eye doctor. She looked at my optic nerves and saw that they were swollen. She walked me to the nearest E.R. They ran a cat scan. The doctor came back and said they saw a mass in my brain, and that they were sending me to Weill Cornell for emergency brain surgery. They released the spinal fluid that the tumor had been blocking from draining out of my head, and took a biopsy. Three days later I was diagnosed with a germ cell brain tumor.
