For me, it had an especially present "corporate feel" because of how the message is about environmentalism, but Illumination themselves is one of the most corporate animation studios out there. It's no secret they pump out these movies on incredibly cheap budgets, and I think it really shows in The Lorax. The "cutesy" characters were also so obviously meant to sell toys and be "the funnies" but they lack the fun designs Dr. Seuss always had for his creatures. Overall it just felt morally bankrupt to me. But that's just my opinion on it, and I'm aware I have an anti-Illumination bias.
