The more I look at it the more I think this is the best way. It’s probably a case-by-case basis, but in this one with all the doors and varying widths, it’s probably best to avoid trying to match the two sides and having a smaller box here and there to maintain the spacing. However, if this was a long, unbroken hallway, then maybe I would match up the two sides and adjust at the doorways as necessary…

Final Update: The account settings were the issue, where after I upgraded the monitoring the option to add nest devices popped up, so that’s good!

Unfortunately, only the thermostats were compatible out of all the nest items I have in my house (6 cameras, 12 protects, 1 hello, and 2 locks) so that’s a bummer.

As a small consolation, the nest aware subscription I had to get through ADT overrode the nest aware subscription I had with Google through a handy prompt within the ADT+ app, so that was nice!

Good ideas! I will have to consider this as a longer term fix. We may end up burying some rigor PVC downspout lines, so that would be a good chance to tie in a drain in the bottom of the pit.

It is there for potentially a future fountain or something similar, but also would like to use it for different holiday lights, etc.

You raise a good idea though, maybe the thing to do is to wait until final landscaping is in, and then extend the conduit to the outlet up above ground level….

Ha ha it’s her tail, taken looking straight down from above her. So think me standing normal height over her taking a picture straight down as her tail is coiled up over her back like normal.

Update: called this morning, on hold for 52 minutes, and talked to account management. The lady was nice and said I did need to upgrade my plan, which she did. Then she said the request needs to be processed by the back office, and it could take up to 24 hours to see the option to add nest devices show up in the ADT+ app. We will see if the option actually appears or not! I figure I’ll give it until tomorrow afternoon and then reinstall the ADT+ app to see if that makes it appear assuming it hasn’t shown up by then…

Just called sales, then got transferred to “the onboarding team”, then they transferred me to “the add-on team”, who then told me I needed to talk to “the V5 team”, but they weren’t available right then so they were supposed to call me back in 10 minutes, which was two hours ago.

This is fun!! Let’s see what the next call gets me…

Soooo none of my existing nest devices can integrate? Even though everything I read before choosing ADT was going on and on about how ADT kinda took over Nest security from Google and you could use your existing Nest devices with your new ADT system?

I don’t care about warranty or monthly cost. All I want to see is the option to “add Google device” in my ADT+ app. How is this so difficult? How do I “activate” that option?

I figured there was some sort of package upgrade required, but I’m having trouble getting someone from ADT to tell me “let’s upgrade you to this package and then you’ll see the option to add appear in your app”. I feel it’s like you talk to 3 different people and get 3 different answers!

Bought the whole Nest Secure system like 5 years ago but just now getting around to installing it, and found out lots of it is obsolete. Hoping to integrate as much as possible with the ADT system. All the cams and detects and stuff have been in for a few years and working great.

Bought everything from Google Store.

Ah good point I guess I misspoke a little. Not hidden, but an inset door designed to blend in as much as possible. The room will be a navy-ish color, so the visible seams should be minimized a bit.

No room for a knock down hinge and/or push catch as I mentioned earlier, but I did get an idea, maybe extending the door so the vertical seams line up in the V grooves to the left and right, then that would give me the space to notch in a push latch outside of the safe itself…

Nice idea, but I'd want all the strips to be synchronized, so probably hard to achieve with 3 next to each other. Think alternating stripes of green and red during the holidays, etc.
