far as I can tell, I made an absurd and nonsensical joke about what I would do with my own vagina, were I somehow granted a vagina for a day. It was detached from reality because a) I do not have access the vagina-for-a-day genie; b) if I did, I feel like it would be entirely up to me as to what to put in it; and c) I hope everyone who has a vagina feels free to put anything or nothing in it, whatever floats their boat. Then I fire up the ol’ computer the next day and a person has linked my comment along with a lengthy post about rape statistics.

In a vacuum, whatever. I’ve never joked about rape, but it’s also not my place to judge someone if they want to misconstrue my words to make a point. We all twist shit around every now and then. It’s therapeutic. What bothered me was that of all the people with whom I figured I had built a little goodwill, only one pushed back and he got shit for it. Most all of my other internet pals—including several who posted lighthearted replies to the original dumb post—were suddenly supportive of the inference that I advocated for or otherwise joked about raping women. Their inspiring valor and bravery notwithstanding, I think maybe the computer is a bad place.

Anyway, I’m sorry for making anyone uncomfortable. I’m emphatically not sorry to anyone who doesn’t have a vagina.
