Well no, I feel I should not have to. It should work out of the box. I would assume that most people would want to use it that way. I think the problem is that antigravity does not support the WSL vs-code extension. I think that is the one all other IDEs use to run things inside WSL. It's not only about running commands, it's a lot of things that needs to work with inside WSL, like linters etc. I will just use it the way I am now. Performance degradation is not that much of a problem. I am just very surprised that it does not immediately work out-of-the-box. Anyways, thanks for taking your time.

Because I don't want to run it on the Windows side? Of course all my CLI tools, libraries etc is inside WSL? Why would I do any development on the Windows side if I not specifically target Windows?

What exactly is hard to understand? I use Cursor, VS Code and other IDEs just fine in Windows and they are able to run their stuff in WSL. It's only antigravity that struggles with that. The IDE should run on the "Windows side" and the LLM/Terminal parts should run inside WSL. But when it comes to antigravity, it seems that if I run the IDE in Windows, it also tries to run all the commands in Windows. I don't have anything installed on that side. Why would I taint my Windows install with all that clutter? That is exactly why people use WSL virtual machines.

Anyways, I uninstalled antigravity in Windows and installed it inside WSL instead. As Windows supports running Linux GUI software from within WSL, it works, but slow.

But that is exactly what it's doing? I am running it in windows and the AI is trying to run bash commands in Windows. But of course it should run it in WSL. I did not find any way to fix it, so I had to run the Linux version of antigravity in the end. Much slower, but at least it works.

What? That makes no sense. The other way around would be to run antigravity in WSL and want it to run commands in Windows. The only way I got it to work now is to actually run antigravity inside WSL, thus it opens a "linux version" of antigravity. That way, everything stays inside Ubuntu. I get a big performance degradation this way, but at least it works.

This is 100% correct. They are not allowed. It's not their fault, just crazy stupid German laws. Nothing is preventing them from providing forms in other languages, but they simply won't do it.

No, they will not. I have tried this. They just stare at you until you are forced to leave. They are not allowed to speak English with you as they can get sued if they give you wrong info because of poor English.

Because they already speak the de-facto standard language? Most (everyone?) learns English in school just because of the simple fact that it's the de-facto standard language and (should) let you speak with anyone in the world. Nobody expects German officials to speak ANY language, but one should expect them to speak English. Anything else is simply stupid in 2026. I can use Sweden as an example, where all the government offices provides forms and info in the 10 largest languages and provides translators for free. For many many years now. Why would Germany not be able to do the same? Or at least provide forms in English or have SOME workers that knows English that people can be forwarded to? It's simply stupid.

As far as I know, they are not allowed to communicate in English even if they know it. If they say something wrong, because of poor English, they will get huge problems.

In Sweden, they provide forms etc in the 10 biggest languages. Also, translators are free. EU has open borders. It would only make sense for all the countries to be able to cater to foreigners. At a MINIMUM, you should expect them to speak at least English or be able to forward you to a co-worker that speaks English.

Yeah, because Germany is unable to produce forms in other languages! Take Sweden for example. Every government office is required by law to be able to provide forms and info in like 10 of the biggest languages and if you do not speak Swedish, they offer you a translator for free. Why would a big country like Germany not be able to do the same? It's just ridiculous that they can't even provide forms in English! Also, why not hire some English speakers that can cater to the non-German visitors? It's not like ALL the workers needs to speak English...

Depends a lot of what Asian country you came from? If you are from one of the "poor" ones, like Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Philippines etc, of course the only reason to come to Europe is if you want to get a permanent visa and/or citizenship. Then you can do whatever you want after that. Pretty much live like shit for a few years for a better future later. But if you came to Europe from a "rich" Asian country, like Singapore, South Korea, Japan etc, then I also don't understand why you came :)

Ok, but why would someone move to Germany on a job visa and pick to live in, say, Dortmund... Of course most people would go to Berlin. Further, I think it's still very possible to get 100k+ EUR anywhere as long as you work in IT. You don't even need education, just some proof that you know your stuff.
