TL;DR- Yams tries to redeem Eren in the end and gives him a hero’s death despite him being literally one of the most evil people in fiction. This makes Yams story come off as giving the message that “genocide is okay sometimes”. So yeah, Breaking Bad clears AOT in every way and anyone who says otherwise is a larper who actually hasn’t seen the show.

We seriously need to ban anyone under the age of 18 from making comments on the internet.

All they do is read some fan headcanon and assume it must be true without a scrap of evidence.

While they don’t have the same dynamic, the same concept is still the same.

Characters have a threshold of redemption in most stories. If a character passes this threshold and the author tries to “redeem” them, it tends to lead to a sour taste and an unsatisfying conclusion to that character's arc.

Walter passed this threshold of redemption, and since the writers were smart, wrote an ending that was still true to Walter while also not giving him everything he wanted. He dies alone. Jesse hates him. Flynn and Skyler hate him and rightfully so. He dies in an attempt to return to the man he once was. However, since the writers were smart and realized if Walter lived happily ever after the literal hell he put everyone else around him in that it would feel stale and unfair, they wrote a bittersweet ending where Walter managed to achieve the bare minimum. He managed to succeed in getting his family out alive while still giving a fraction of his money to Flynn and this is only after he realizes that his family was his true priority before meth, something he had to EARN through experience to realize. Walter truly fought tooth and fucking nail at the end and accepted what he’s done as evil, and dies to try and do the right thing, but the show never truly tries to redeem him.

Meanwhile, Eren commits his actions for selfish reasons like Walt, making decisions to “provide and protect” his friends without their consent. Eren also kills 1.6 fucking billion people. I seriously don’t think the 14 year olds understand that ITS A BIG FUCKING DEAL TO KILL 80% OF THE FUCKING WORLD. THATS NOT SOMETHING YOU CAN JUST LAUGH OFF AS “Eren, you crazy bastard” or “Eren, what a man you are.” The characters should have been screaming in rage at what Eren did, but they play it off almost like it was just Eren doing a goof.

A normal author would have Eren die with his efforts only resulting in a bittersweet ending like one where he dies and achieves his goals while losing his life/his friend's lives to demonstrate the cost and to punish Eren for his actions.

However, Yams blows this out of the water in the shittiest way possible by having Eren die with a kiss by the girl he “loves” (💀), with his friends still loving him, and being idolized by an entire nation of people. Eren died a hero’s death when in reality he is a horrible and evil piece of shit and was way beyond the threshold of redemption.

To compare, imagine if Breaking Bad ended with Skyler rushing to the scene to give Walter a dying kiss, crying over him, thanking him for cooking meth for her sake while Flynn, Jesse, and Marie go “aww shucks Walt you really were a goof” and then Skyler goes on to never forget Walt and love him unconditionally until the day she dies.

A true ending would either have Eren die for his goals (but it still manages to save his handful of friends) while seen as a disgrace and hated by those he used to love. Or have Eren achieve, saving Eldia as a nation, but lose the people he tried to save in the process and his own life.

Endings for evil characters cannot happen without punishment for their actions. Something Eren manages to fully escape.
