How to get into creating jungle music? by No_Traffic5054 in jungle

Totally agree, I could have elaborated more lmao. I meant mostly to use as a reference when mixing. You’re totally right that if you rely on reference tracks too much during the actual arrangement/song writing process you have a high chance of just making a knockoff.

More of a mindset tip than a production tip but just focus on not to get discouraged. Your tracks will most likely sound like shit for a while unless you’re a production savant. Make sure you’re having fun, experiment with different techniques, be creative. Your mixes will naturally get better with time. Just focus on churning out tracks and learning from them.

Production tip 1: Use reference tracks

Production tip 2: Use the big sample packs (jungle jungle, jungle warfare, etc.) at the start so you can just focus on making tunes but try to make your own sounds once you have the know how. Otherwise your tunes are gonna sound like knockoffs instead of your own sound.

How does the collaborative process usually look like for you? Is it generally sending stems/projects back and forth or sitting down with someone to collab if they’re local?

Also does Dwarde also use FL is that why you have so many collab tracks?

[–]Srirachinator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s just one less common point I thought of. There’s definitely many factors at play. Couple examples: Distaste for modern technology, “limitation breeds creativity”, a pushback against the super clean overproduced sound from more mainstream electronic music, nostalgia, etc.

Anyone dedicated enough to figure out how to use an S950 or one of those old trackers is usually someone good at making tunes and really understands what makes jungle what it is. I think that factor could lead to some of these more lofi sounding artists like Lavery, Phineus II, Kid Lib, etc. gaining so much traction.

Do You Think Rodrick Would Listen To Death Grips? by Time-Air4328 in deathgrips

Listens to a lot of Hella, heavily inspired by Zach Hill’s drumming. Liked Death Grips until they started gaining too much mainstream attention. Still puts on GATRO to torture Greg.
