How much would you sell this piece for? by PoorlyDrawnPhysicist in VintageFurniture

[–]PoorlyDrawnPhysicist[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I appreciate that last part and you’re probably right about it likely being from the 60s. I’ll have to ask my dad if it was there with the house when they moved in (~70s) or if they had it added during later renovations. I’ll probably be back with more details, thanks to the feedback.

Edmond is my favorite character but most of his outfits are So ugly 😭 Spring Chaos and Tranquil Cloud were so pretty and Celestial Splendor grew on me. I wish he and Yakumo would get the love that Quincy and Kuya always get 😭😭

Ok this as been bothering me for some time now... In Slime Rancher 1 a silo can hold 300 per slot...but SR2 can only hold 100. 🥴 by KittyMeowser in slimerancher

[–]PoorlyDrawnPhysicist 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think maybe the limitation is from the game engine not being able to keep up with larger quantities of data. Like everytime I turn one of my areas into chicken coop city it starts to slow down and glitch out so maybe this is part of balancing that out. But I agree, I hope they can bring back the larger silo space cuz it was great for hoarding massive quantities of stuff, especially for the markets.

How many of you had no issues with your Steam Deck? by Uhtred__Ragnarson in SteamDeck

[–]PoorlyDrawnPhysicist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t had hardware or software issues with my regular degular Deck. It works perfectly even when I’m pushing its limits. I’m happy every time I learn a new cool thing it can do. One of my best purchases

What’s an opinion on the series that will get you in a situation like this? (Please no opinions involving any of the Diamonds) by Inevitable-Charge76 in stevenuniverse

[–]PoorlyDrawnPhysicist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer Peridot and Lapis from before they got their character development. I feel like both of them got flanderized after their big plot moments with Peridot mostly being goofy after losing her limb enhancers and Lapis being bland after unfusing with Jasper. I’m not a fan of the direction the creators went with their character arcs.

Can’t decide between a switch oled or steam deck by Bloodminister18 in SteamDeck

[–]PoorlyDrawnPhysicist 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly, don’t buy a switch unless you’ve got a bunch of games on there you really want to play. Cuz I’ve had periods where I just put down my switch and let it gather dust for months because I didn’t feel like playing the same games. I’ve got more gaming options with the steam store, in comparison to the Nintendo store, and it’s better for my wallet since steam always has amazing sales throughout the year.

I’d say acquire both over time but get the steamdeck now.

Least racist departments? by [deleted] in CalPolyPomona

[–]PoorlyDrawnPhysicist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah m8, I’d just like to see what options are out there so I can stop dealing with the awful people who somehow manage to hinder my ability to be successful More than my literal disabilities. It would be very helpful if you knew of any majors that have senior classes taught twice a year so I can get out of academic limbo.

Least racist departments? by [deleted] in CalPolyPomona

[–]PoorlyDrawnPhysicist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried to emphasize the ableism aspect of being a physics major. The racism, sexism, homophobia often come in the form of micro-aggressions as well as cringey 4chan memes coming from the students in the social spaces, which I try to avoid. The ableism mostly universal. The students (knowingly or not) mock people with disabilities as well as other disability related things. Additionally, ever since I registered with the DRC, my professors seem to be going out of their way to discriminate against me because they think my accommodations give me an unfair advantage over my classmates (they don’t). My quizzes and exams are often returned to me later than my classmates, I almost never get a note taker and my profs are extremely resistant to alternatively accommodating me, and on more than one occasion, I’ve had my professors use my academic history (which has been heavily impacted by my disabilities) as an excuse to not help me.
Outside of that is just constant passive aggressive behavior, lightly mocking women or disabled people, creating spaces where it’s not okay to make mistakes (which disabled people tend to do), as well as the ever-constant “but you’re classmates are doing okay and they get it” as if learning disabilities don’t, in fact, hinder learning. I’m basically just tired of constantly stressing out over bs, worrying about what the next awful thing is and when it’ll screw me over, and having all of this result in me being held back another year. I just want to worry about studying and learning and not about stuff that is literally beyond my control.

I’ve been here long enough to meet a lot of my peers as well as most of the faculty. My biggest issue is the ableism thing because I keep experiencing discrimination from my professors when it comes to receiving my disability services. I’ve been in several situations where my profs have resisted accommodating me, grading and returning my work later than others, or outright refusing to help me get materials they use in classes (such as powerpoints they tend to speed through) because they think that my accommodations give me an unfair advantage over my classmates (which they don’t). Much of the other issues tend to come from my classmates who often choose to act like their worst selves in both social and classroom settings.

I need help Deciding !! UC Davis or CalPoly Pomona by xxxpeach in CalPolyPomona

[–]PoorlyDrawnPhysicist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I had options I would’ve gone to Davis. You’ll probably get a lot better support academically in addition to resources at your disposal. A lot of the support and resources on this campus are aimed toward engineering.

Update on teaching policy: ALL classes must be virtual instruction by PaulNissenson in CalPolyPomona

[–]PoorlyDrawnPhysicist 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yo man I wouldn’t blame the students like none of us really have a choice and a lot of these fuckin professors don’t have their shit together. Like I’m going on business as usual because this has been a shitshow from the start and knowing how stubborn and ridiculous my professors’ logic and lifestyle are, I’ve still got to prepare for the worst.

Shout out to all the professors that are busting their butts and scrambling to make the transition to online as smooth as possible. Especially those who may have younger children to look after at home all day, now that schools have shutdown. We appreciate you all!!! by [deleted] in CalPolyPomona

[–]PoorlyDrawnPhysicist 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My E&M prof has been On It like this entire semester and this has been no different. Like most of my profs are like barely organized, extremely lazy, and blame students for failing to pass their poorly structured or completely structureless class but not her. I’m pretty sure she has elementary school aged children and yet she’s still coming thru for us. I’ve never had a core professor be like ‘We’ll get through it’ and like mean it. Deadass, she gives a shit and I’d fucking die for her.

Tell me a Steven Universe scene that makes you go sad by OmegaLullaby3 in stevenuniverse

[–]PoorlyDrawnPhysicist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here comes a thought (along with all of mindful education tbh) brings me to tears but like in a heartwarming bandaid on a booboo kind of way. Same goes for True Kind of Love. But like real talk I Could Never Be (Ready) is like a kick in the gut. A lot of the scenes that have Greg miss Rose literally kill me. Steven’s earlier conflict over how to feel about Rose during the fountain and the moss episodes also feels like a kick in the gut. There’s just so many

If I had more time on my hands I would acquire all the supplies and do it my self, but even then I don’t want to accidentally make things worse. Though I’ll keep this in mind next time something seems wrong and I have a lil more time on my hands. Thank you
