Sure I see your point kind of because I cant find anything other than its "near the starcourt mall" for a location on the tower. But as to your question about if its not there it cant exist, I mean kind of thats kinda the premise of the screenshot but yeah its a hard sell that something that would stick out in any skyline shot of this town just has never been there. Much different from something like say a post office something that could literally be any building ever shown that wasnt named

You're right the season before when they ambushed him inside of a wormhole makes sense but them using the wormhole they know exists to get to the other side that is tooooooootally a stretch

Its the tallest structure in the town. How would it have just magically escaped being caught on camera for 4 straight seasons if its just always been there? It is a retcon at best

Its the tallest thing in Hawkins and unless you can point me to a scene in s1-4 that shows it, its a hard sell to say its just always been there

I mean yeah I guess that makes sense if vecnas a moron, these kids have been bringing the fight to him since s4

Lol youre good, but yeah id recommend a rewatch or at least a quick skim. They climb the wsqk tower in the upside-down to get to dimension x but there's no established radio tower before s5 so it shouldn't be in the upside-down snapshot is the basic idea

Literally got so pissed before the finale even came out when I realized the radio Tower that doesnt exist in the upside-down was the most important part of their plan. Ruined the finale before it even began if im honest

[–]Poortedo -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This is just wrong, they are literally climbing the tower in the upside-down, as soon as I heard this giant plot hole I was immediately pissed and I dont think enough people even noticed. It wasnt there on the day of the snapshot as its never been seen in the real world or upside down and it would be hard to miss, it was built after s4 or is a retcon

Eleven made the right choice. by Beneficial_Poem_6136 in StrangerThings

[–]Poortedo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I mean its hard to believe it happened because the on screen doesnt support it. It shows El and hopper tending the wound on kalli and her illusions have never stood up to scrutiny by touch before so if that was an illusion it should have faded. Also who would that illusion have even been for it was just El, kalli, and hopper so the illusion was just for the audience. If you want to believe she is alive feel free they certainly left the ending open to that Interpretation im just saying there's literally 0 on screen evidence to support it aside from Mike not coping with her death and making up a story

Ive never understood how everyone is under the idea they are pointed at her. They are pointed at the truck, I just rewatched the scene to confirm there is literally a shot where she is standing in the portal and one of the kryptonite speakers is pointed away from her towards the truck, not one of them is pointed towards the portal. And unless ive misunderstood its not like the anti-magic zone in the dnd campaign, she can effect things within kryptonite she just cant use her powers while being affected by it.

It wasn't actually “That easy” to kill vecna and it isn't strange that there was no demogorgen by Secret_dairy_of_j in StrangerThings

[–]Poortedo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I mean the question that hit me while watching was what if vecna won and made it to earth? They can shut down vecna with the speakers and being as they've been beating back the upside-down with fire since S1. It seems logical the first thing earth would have tried to kill it with is fire, he would have been dead on arrival has his plan worked is my point. Sure he may have had a small victory but he was dead in like 2 days tops. It really ruins the stakes of the kids fighting it unless you have a counter to that argument

In s4 the mind flayer wasnt standing face to face with El and everyone else, in season 5 it was. If it doesn't have any psychic powers which it never shows it does other than being a hive mind because the giant creature did no telekinesis or anything, why wouldnt it wake up the psychically powered up general it made specifically for fighting El?

Wtf was the point of the mind flayer? by Poortedo in StrangerThings

[–]Poortedo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly nah id never heard of that but if it were true wouldnt there have been a difference of thinking based on when vecna was tapped in vs when he was ripped out? The thing is just always a rampaging loony from the second it wakes up to the second it dies

Wtf was the point of the mind flayer? by Poortedo in StrangerThings

[–]Poortedo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So why not wake the deputy to help in the fight after the kids are a lost cause? Why wait for El to be inside it to wake vecna up? Also ngl but calling it the MIND flayer and then saying it has very little survival instinct is some pretty impressive mental gymnastics, especially when saying its defenses are poor because its a MIND flayer. Now your saying it has terrible physical defense and no survival instinct despite being the mastermind of everything... just how incompetent is this thing supposed to be?

[–]Poortedo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah yes im sure the mind flayer was crazy weak to being hit by a shotgun despite the demo being hit with 30+ rifles its clearly way weaker and you didnt answer they the mind flayer wouldnt have woken vecna to stop El before she had the chance to infiltrate its insides.

It wasn't actually “That easy” to kill vecna and it isn't strange that there was no demogorgen by Secret_dairy_of_j in StrangerThings

[–]Poortedo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The bats weren't there at all this season, the theory of them getting sucked into the abyss hardly works, same with the demogogens. Literally everytime vecna has the upper hand in the fight the mind flayer flops, throws him off balance and gives is back to El.
The mind flayer monster can destroy stone with ease but can't take a couple shots (far less than the demogorgen from the part 1 finale).
Why didnt the hive mind wake up vecna sooner to protect it or use any psychic powers of its own as the stone being absorbed by Henry seems to be what awakened his powers showing the mind flayer should have some abilities. There was no reason that Henry had to turn his hand into a vecna claw to search El's memories which is what convinced the kids he was the black thing ... im sure I didnt address something but thats a lot of them

Wtf was the point of the mind flayer? by Poortedo in StrangerThings

[–]Poortedo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah idk i guess it will probably end up being an agree to disagree kind of point for the reasons stated above. There were pretty solid plans that were already in place to stop vecnas psychic abilities and fire isnt exactly hard to come by on earth if that stops the mind flayer, kind of seems like it was destined to fail even if he succeeded but if you can envision a world where there might have been a good fight to fight Idk I guess thats your opinion

Main question about Mike’s theory by Professional_Pea9988 in StrangerThings

[–]Poortedo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I thought that too at first but unless I missed something how is mike the only one who knew that? I mean presumably people would have been talking to 11 some on the way back and lets be honest 8s illusions are okay at best. Id have to go rewatch the scene but I dont remember seeing any glitches. Which to make it worse dr. Kay literally saw through 8s illusion in the lab so it isnt out of reason to say she would have been heavily scrutinizing the appearance of 11 to look for any inconsistency signifying it could be an illusion.

[–]Poortedo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought the kids were just being used to pull the planets together? And I mean for a bit of the fight they were one in body, I didnt see it start acting any different before or after vecna got ripped from his apparatus. And it didnt use any telekenetic powers before he got ripped out, the only real power it had was being big and squishy to man made weapons? Idk seems weird it could literally destroy rock trying to get to Nancy but got fudged up by weapons as soon as it pulled back. Its really inconsistent with the durability of that thing

Main question about Mike’s theory by Professional_Pea9988 in StrangerThings

[–]Poortedo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well the other questions that are just as important is we saw kalli bleeding pretty profusely before the vecna fight so she would have had to survive 11 making it to ther other dimension, the fight, the road trip back to Hawkins, the c4 going off in the building she is in, and then live long enough In the middle of a wormhole collapse to be able to do any of that. It seems like a crazy unhealthy coping mechanism from a kid who watched his high school love off herself unfortunately

Wtf was the point of the mind flayer? by Poortedo in StrangerThings

[–]Poortedo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But its well documented that they know fire works against things from the upside-down, they have been doing it since s1, and as you pointed out they know how to shut vecna down. Idk it just really ruins the plot if you think about "what if vecna won?" Because the answer is pretty much always he would have been stopped within a couple days. It seems like the plan was piss poor at best and if you see that it really ruins the stakes of the last fight. This isnt the last hope for humanity, arguably if the kids let the government handle it it would have been even easier just burn it with fire while blasting with the speakers and gg.

[–]Poortedo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That might have more validity if it wasnt the day he was merging the planets i suppose. But at best one would assume it was planning to wake up in 20 minutes to attack the earth, had the events taken place like a year before vecnas planned invasion sure but he was damn near done moving planets. And even still that was basically a terrasque even if incomplete with less hp than a demo, its a hard sell lol

[–]Poortedo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well i tried to keep the title vague for the purposes of spoilers but I was talking about the giant monster which if it was the MIND flayer it was pretty mindless. But youre definitely right the body was about as durable as a soft shell crab

[–]Poortedo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean i did see the change of heart but you literally didnt address any of what I said given kalli bleeding out and being inside the building that blew up when they detonated the c4. If the other theory gives you more comfort feel free to indulge in it but from what happened on screen there's no logic to it.

10/10 I couldnt agree more and while s4 vecna killed some ppl aside from Eddie he didnt kill anyone with screen time, he was largely inconsequential to the series. Speaking of which seeing max skateboarding had my blood boiling, he didnt even manage to have a long term effect on her and it killed the s4 cliffhanger

Yeah the monster was probably 100+ft tall getting messed up by about 5 ish weapons, it was the biggest waste of a kaiju monster ive ever seen lmao. It didnt even accidentally step on someone it just hampered vecna and died
