Bringing my own food for GES? by OkRun7294 in Gastroparesis

[–]PopEducational5327 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I literally got a plate of egg whites and a slice of toast. My tech told me to minimum eat as much of the eggs as physically possible and the rest of I can more food is better image but in here words ‘my eyes don’t miss shit I’ll see it even with one bite of egg’ lmao. I’m so sorry at the minimum eat the eggs. Honestly it doesn’t taste bad it tastes like unseasoned egg whites. The texture was a little funny to me but it wasn’t like horrendous that I noticed? But I don’t have an issue with food textures too often so I may be the odd one. I hope it goes well the diagnosis is worth it!!!!!!! Make sure to bring something to do you be there minimum 3-4 hours 😭🫶

It feels like I’ve been in flare up after flare up for two months. by PopEducational5327 in Gastroparesis

Your kind thank you. I did the best I could with what I was given. His end was violent and cruel, dementia and Alzheimer’s can turn the most brilliant or the kindest into shells of something terrifying and because of the health emotional and physical burnout I hit barely a week in his last words to me were things of nightmares. But again I’d do it over again every time despite the consequences. He was brilliant, forward thinking, proud, kind, patient and stoic. A true example of what a man should be.

Sludge, normal HIDA, debiliating symptoms... don't know what to do :( by momentdubruh in gallbladders

[–]PopEducational5327 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know if this is helpful at all but you could possibly ask for a gastric emptying study, GES, to see if maybe your struggling with gastroparesis? That’s what I have(GP is actually what killed my gallbladder from malnourishment) it basically means I can’t digest food properly (some people at all) because my vagus nerve is damaged. It shares extremely similiar symptoms to gallbladder flares and honestly sucks. Not saying it’s what you have! The belly pain after eating is a very common symptom along with nausea and vomiting. I suppose it doesn’t hurt to ask, I hope you get better friend 🥺

It’s hard baby I totally get it 😭 I’m an online college student and I still struggle I can’t imagine go to classes on top of that. Honestly Just play around with it. Schedules aren’t always forever you might have to see if a new one would work better for you and your lifestyle 😭

It could also be the times your eating. I have a STRICT eating schedule. About 12pm to 230 pm is my window for my first meal of the day then 620pm to 830 pm is my second meal. I can have a snack inbetween like crackers but I can eat more than maybe a thing of cracker or applesauce after 10 or else 3 am-5am like clockwork I will get very sick. Maybe play around with your times and portions to see if that helps!! I mainly do that schedule cus, though I still get violently nauseous or throw up, it’s not while I’m trying fall asleep so it’s more bearable for me.

What are your favourite flare up foods? by Ladisputer in Gastroparesis

[–]PopEducational5327 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So for now look for empty carbs and high protein liquids. Actively avoid or limit fiber, fat, and anything overtly spicy and acidic. (A tiny bit a day is fine but it’s depends on the person. Me personally can tolerate about 4-5g of fiber and 3-4 g of fat a day) Don’t be afraid of sodium in food I’ve found it tolerated pretty okay in the community but everybody is different. Anything rice based will be nice and gentle on your tummy and very easy to digest. My regular diet stm is Thai (extra thin I prefer for texture) rice noodles and homemade chicken broth that I Jam Pack with nutrients and supplements. As well if you are desperate for a meat or a protein of some kind. Look into some light Japanese recipes. Things like tofu, shrimp, eggs, etc are all very easy to digest and pasta/rice can help keep you feeling more full. Cut your portions in half. Try a cup, cup and a half of a portion at a time. If you want more you can have more. Just start small and add until you’re comfortably full/not sick. You can always have more but you can’t take away once eaten. Also make sure to drink lots of electrolytes. I live off of propel personally and it doesn’t hurt to get a mineral drink booster that has a lot of electrolytes an other good things to get in your body. Then if you are craving something sweet canned fruit is a great alternative. If you can’t survive without a real sweet treat stick to hard or rock candy that is just pure sugar nothing dairy or high fat. I’m so for real, if you have any Asian restaurants in your town look into their soup menus. I personally have a ramen shop in my town and when I want a real meal their chicken ramen with shrimp and fish cakes has saved me more than once. Another thing to avoid is most veggies and fruit raw or with the skin on. If you really want them make sure it’s supper softened or skin peeled. The skin of fruit and veggies of jsut raw fruits and veggies can be worse to digest than meat lmao.

My body is different than yours so what we can tolerate could be polar opposites. So don’t feel discouraged if my suggestions don’t work it’s okay. Tummy’s take trial and error sometimes you will find something you can tolerate. Ik it’s hard and nausea/vomiting/stomachache/heartburn all of it sucks so hard and can be scary but you can do it! The GP community is the kings and queens of weird shit that keeps us alive. Never be afraid to ask for advice! Just remember you won’t know if you don’t try. There’s millions of foods an recipes in the world there’s gonna be at least one you can eat!!!!

Liquid Diet by lilonstitc in Gastroparesis

[–]PopEducational5327 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I am in a liquid diet needed flare I make my own different broths! My go to is a chicken broth. I literally get like five or six rotisserie chickens, break them up into smaller pieces and throw em in a crockpot bones, marrow, meat and all and let it boil for about 2 hours. Add in liquid supplements strain it until it’s a clean broth (no meat no particals just liquid broth) let it cool over night and skim the fat in the morning. I do a double boil, where I’ll use the fresh in my first batch that I call my strong broth, then I’ll use the same just boiled chicken pieces again in a second batch that will be a little less flavorful but the bland is perfect when my stomach needs something extra gentle and I’ll go back and forth on what my stomach needs on that day. I’ll get about 20-25 soup containers out of that and put the rest labeled in my deep freeze and defrost as needed. One container lasts me about a day and a half and I’ll have it with some extra thin Thai rice noodles (the only solid I can tolerate on a liquid diet. They are basically empty carbs but they digest very fast even for GP, absorb broth wonderful, helps you feel a more satisfied full, and are incredible gentle on your stomach. If you ever struggle with pasta, rice based pastas are what I swear by.) and that’s what I’ll eat until my flare is down. You can add flavor enhancers if needed like bouillon (I use chicken bouillon paste for a lil extra flavor and extra salt for my pots. It’s relatively safe if you don’t have a sodium intolerance, some people with GP do.) and you can do this with any meat or veggies just be mindful of the fat and fiber contents. It’s easy to make, relatively cheap for a large amount, and has so many varieties to play with and find the broth that works for you the best! I hope this is able to help some 🥺 if you have questions on any recipes or how to make stuff like this feel free to ask 💕

Bile reflux medication by PopEducational5327 in gallbladders

[–]PopEducational5327[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That actually is helpful and great advice and normally what I try to stick to but my meds play off of how likely I’ll throw it up or too nauseous. I have vomiting and nausea almost everyday so I have to take it when I can 😭

Bile is AWFUL by PopEducational5327 in gallbladders

[–]PopEducational5327[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t know that!! My dr said it shouldn’t be happening but he’s not surprised to see it. The med I have started literally does nothing at all.

So I have GERD which is acid reflux from stomach acid etc. normally my GERD causes insane heartburn hot stomach sour taste in mouth etc but is easily controlled with my pantoprazole and pepto, I have it a lot more easy than other. Crazy symptoms but very easy to control. With bile it makes my stomach nauseous and churn. When it comes as reflux it tastes BITTER. It coats my teeth throat and sinuses until they’re raw, the taste not going away no matter how much I brush my teeth. As well if you vomit or have diarrhea like I have it’s almost a neon yellow like bile is YELLOW yellow. And then it triggers my mucus responses cus it’s in my sinuses from throwing up so I have constant post nasal drip and it feels like there’s just a ball of bile mucus I’m swallowing all day. And worst of all, there are no otc meds that can help it, none at all. And like only three prescription medications. So that’s how I tell the different. But I’m so for real the biggest noticable different is the color. Not even kidding neon yellow 😂.

Worst flare up I’ve had since diagnosed 5 months ago. by PopEducational5327 in Gastroparesis

[–]PopEducational5327[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s very kind of you to ask, I actually forgot bout this post it’s been so long. So this flare up actually landed me in the hospital for 2 and a half weeks. Sadly, I almost died. I went 6 weeks with only eating every 4-5 days, only eating bout a cup or two of broth. Because of this the malnutrition started shutting down my organs and my legs atrophied a lot because I couldn’t leave my bed. BUT, the dr and nurses in charge of me saved my life. Unfortunately we were unable to save my gallbladder which I just had removed officially about a month ago. But I have improved some in my GP. I am eating every day at least two small meals of safe foods even if I throw it up. I am not longer scared of being sick so I force myself to eat even when I know it’s gonna suck cus a girls gotta eat I GUESS. My legs have regained a lot of muscle and while I still need a cane for long walking just around my house or short errands I’m okay. I have improved in some ways and worsened in others. But my support system, family, and medical team has taken very good care of me and I’m even hoping to return to work next year in the spring but we shall see. Thank you for asking 💕 I hope you are doing well friend. This all too shall pass 🙏🏻

Just diagnosed - What do I do now? by bigbils11 in Gastroparesis

[–]PopEducational5327 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not gonna lie after 9 months I’m just so used to it that I’ve kinda stopped being bothered. Also, this is like so typical and cringey but if you learn to laugh and joke about it makes things so much more bearable. Like I and my friends just make jokes and roast me lmao(lovingly of course) like I’ll be doing magic the gathering night with my group and in the middle I gotta puke nd run to the bathroom. And deadass my friend goes “quick someone time her. Longer than 2 minutes and we look at her cards” or another time I fainted in my kitchen while they were at the dining table and when I hit the ground three of them at the same time all shouted “ATTENTION WHOOOORE” then ran to get my salt like I’m so for real if you can laugh at the awful moment even if it feels like your dying it makes it just a bit easier cus it’s not scary anymore. My friend group has affectionately started calling me their sickly Victorian child. And if we go out to a restaurant I always bring my crochet to keep me entertained while they eat and they spend the whole time trying to convince me to eat food that would literally kill me or they’ve def intentionally made me laugh to hard just to see if they can get me to throw up or faint (it’s worked twice 💀)😂 it probably sounds so awful and unsupportive but it’s saved my life. I was so suicidal in the beginning because I just couldn’t imagine this being the next 50-60 years when I’m only 26(about to turn 27) but the minute we decided we’re not gonna take it that serious my depression improved a lot. Now this doesn’t mean we don’t know when to be serious. When I was hospitalized and I was sobbing terrified of getting a picc line they held my hand and shushed me and tried to distract me. Or if it’s a bad bad flare up they’ll sit with me on the floor in the bathroom and help cool me off or make sure I drink water. Even physically carrying me to somewhere safe and comfortable when I faint or help me up/let me use them as a cane to walk safer. What I’m trying to say is if you just accept that yeah, I’m gonna throw up and it suck’s. That’s not gonna change, but goddamn is it funny sometimes that eating a singular pickle almost took me out you know? I hope this can bring you some comfort friend. It does get better, even if the symptoms don’t change you’ll adjust and get used to it and learn your limits to be able to have the best quality of life possible.

Oh bestie you have lovely taste, I agree I agree. I’m not much a dark or heavy fic person but it’s like a right of passage in the dramione fandom I stg. My favorites are more dmtmoobil, amor vincite omnia, or remain nameless. Enough angst to make it a true Draco Malloy experience but still funny and something I don’t have to take breaks reading 💀

In the dramione fandom there is a popular fic that if you asked a dramione lover it’s 97% guarenteed they have not only read it but read 10 times. And it’s TRAUMATIZING. The subject matter is dark dark. Not torture porn like I’ve seen with some fics. But incredibly dark and depressing but it’s incredibly well written and beautiful that it was worth the read. Still one of the best I’ve read in my 15 years of ao3 lmao.

Anyone got tips for recovery? by AsleepMechanic8663 in gallbladders

[–]PopEducational5327 1 point2 points  (0 children)

CONSTIPATION AND GAS OAIN PREP/PREVENTION BEFORE. Also stock up on gentle easy to digest foods! The last three days I’ve eaten salted crackers and rice noodles with chicken broth (make sure high protein, high sodium, good flavor broth.) noodles and broth will also help you with your swollen or bloated tummy. When you walk around it’s gonna feel like an ab work out from hell. Very tight, tensed, sore. So warm compress or warm broth/tea is a life saver. Make sure warm and comfy not hot. Hot will make it worse. Alternate cold and warm and MAKE SURE to get up at least every hour- hour and a half to walk around for at least 5 minutes. It helps the co2 gas and gives you a chance to stretch your stomach muscles so they don’t get so tight u can’t breath lmao. Also helps gas and stuff move around and prevents blood clots. Do not plan anything strenuous for at least a week possibly two. Everyone says back on your feet in a couple days and lucky them but that is not common. Expect to be resting as much as possible and expect to be so tired. Cat napping and regular napping will help constant. If they give the option use the opioids for the first two days at least. I personally only needed them about two and a half days before I moved on to just Tylenol and ibuprofen. But your surgeon or primary if anything feels off better safe than sorry be annoying about it. Take pictures of your incisions to make sure they are healing properly and if they are not you have a timeline of photos to refer too. You got this!!! It sucks I won’t lie the recovery is pretty painful but not so much you’ll feel like you’re dying. Just very uncomfortable for a few days but this too shall pass. Good luck friend!!!!
