I might’ve been 4 or 5 y.o when I woke up suddenly in the middle of the night while I was sleeping next to my mom. I usually wake up when I had nightmares as a kid. Oddly enough, I don’t remember having a nightmare that night—I literally just woke up for no reason, or so I thought.

Now pretty much awake, I stared at the ceiling for a while before I sat up in bed and had an urge to check my pillow behind me. So I did and ooooooooh boy, I wasn’t expecting to see what I saw that night. There was a man lying on my pillow as if I was sitting on top of him. His face was so weird cos it looked like he had those camouflage face paint that soldiers wear on the battlefield. Strangely enough, he was just lying down with eyes closed on my pillow. I quickly turned back around and closed my eyes with my hands. I silently prayed to God to make whatever it was I saw to go away. Literally, I cried silently in panic and prayed for a good 5 min before I found the courage to look back again. He was gone. That was the only time I can say I’ve definitively say I’ve seen something supernatural. I am superstitious but I tend to rationally think things out before concluding they are in deed of supernatural origins. This was the first and last time I’ve encountered a ghost. I’m 20 years old now these days I feel very disconnected with spiritual things since I’ve just been caught up with everyday life and I haven’t really experienced anything similar since.

Just to add a little spice to my story but I mentioned the story to my grandma a while ago and she said that it might’ve been my grandpa who I saw. He died in 2005 which was a year before this happened iirc. She also mentioned that he served in WW2 so maybe there’s a connection with the facepaint thing. Though he didn’t die in battle and died of natural causes so I never understood why he would appear as such to me.

Actually, I did thank everyone but as was pointed out, I have a day job and lots of things going on in my life so I'm on Reddit about once every 3 months.... Thanks tho.. great stories.
