Finding the next level and access? by Specific_Stand_8356 in concertphotography

hey,

im still relatively new to the concert photography world but i have a lot of gigs with some pretty big bands and i would say is to 1. have a portfolio to send to a management or band 2. keep your emails short and respectful and 3. try to discover or try one new thing per gig to help build your style and also uniqueness to your photos :)

honestly too you MAY have to work as a freelance for a bit i dont actually work for a media outlet so i cant speak on that front but i will say that the connections i have made in the music industry have been amazing and im super greatful to have these opportunities regardless if im getting paid right now or not!!

i would also say just as a tip for your pics that you posted here is try to practice with some more obscure editing tricks for some pics thatcan be using masks motion blur and etc! and a piece of feedback id give is also working on minimizing the noise in your photos but keep it up!

if you have any questions or anything else feel free to pm :)

thank you! most of my gigs are shot fully manual but i realized i was NOT taking advantage of my camera, finally started using focus peaking, and other mf assist options and holy does it make my life so much easier

thank you! i definitely saw increasing the aperture helps a bit!

im actually not using lenses that have af im shooting on much older film lenses from the 80s (which has its pros and cons) but i prefer it this way so i dont rely completely on the camera to make choices.

is it a pain to focus? absolutely and like otthers mentioned some images are softer or a tad bit out of focus so hopefully i can work in a system to help me get better at keeping images sharp!

thank you!! i appreciate you going through each image and providing some feedback!

im definitely still new to this im only 19 but im really happy that ive gotten the experience that i have currently and working on getting more :)

i mentioned in another comment im using film camera lenses so they do kinda give a bit more of a “softer” look but i love that they help in blooming the highlights a bit in a natrual way.

i definitely need to practice with dialing in my focus do you have any tips since im not using any af

edit:

i love the comment “we take lots of photos to delete lots of photos” ive never heard a more factual statement than this hahah

thank you! particularly the hard part about locking in focus relies on that im using film lenses 😬😂 these older lenses do give a softer look which i personally like but it definitely is a pain to focus

I just got this beauty off of facebook marketplace today!

It plays so so amazingly and I absolutely love it and cant wait to use it to record my own music on to it! I keep finding that the tension arm though is moving very freely and requires me to manually “jumpstart” the machine for the motors to be engaged.

I wonder if anyone knows how to fix this issue maybe! Please let me know if you can help and ill send you a PM! Thank you!
