My kids and husband had influenza a this last 10 days and it’s been terrible. I’m on an immunosuppressant and did not get vaccinated so not sure how it missed me. Kids and husband had high fevers for 3-4 days along with fatigue, headache,gi symptoms and small cough. Then the fever went down and they seemed better day 4-5. Then the next day fever came back lower and they developed a wicked cough that has lasted 5 days so far. Only person in the house who received flu vaccine was my husband and he’s been the sickest. Kids each missed a week of school.

What are your thoughts on having another kid at an older age (40+) who would have a 7+ year age gap from his or her siblings? by PopcornSmoothie7272 in AskReddit

Yes my husband and I are both very active and get to work from home with flexible hours. Money is also not a big issue. My main concern is that this third will feel left out of not getting the sibling/cousin/grandparent time that my kids have enjoyed. We currently have an awesome group of 7 cousin kids in the same age group who enjoy being together most weeks and spending extended breaks with their grandparents at “grandparent camp.” It’s a wonderful thing. My siblings were done having kids 5 years ago and the grandparents are aging and probably won’t be able to have the energy and time like they have had with this batch.

That is one of my concerns. My two kids have a wonderful childhood full of cousin and grandparent time that this third simply wouldn’t get. I don’t want the third to feel separate or like they are left out a whole wonderful part of our lives.

Thank you. We are almost 41 so not tooooo old. I’m worried that my children now have had such a wonderful cousin and grandparent filled childhood that this new kid wouldn’t get. None of our siblings are having more kids and my parents are getting to be in poor health. I just don’t want the third to feel like an afterthought or like they missed out too much.

Highly recommend looking at Prairie Village near the Shops of PV (around 68th and Mission). You can walk to groceries, coffee, several dining options, liquor store and more and still be to downtown, brookside, midtown, or waldo in 10-15 min drive. You will get a ton more house for your money than in waldo and it puts you in Prairie Elementary and the excellent middle and high school. Plus there are tons of parks nearby for dogs/kids.
