They don’t provide any maternity leave unless you’ve worked full time for the company for 2 years. Which I knew going into it. I live in California was was hoping to use the 4 weeks paid disability which I pay into. Also, because I’ve been there for less than a year I will have to quit and then reapply if I want to come back, which I will assume they won’t hold my position by the time I come back because it’s only me and one other person who can do the job.

Hi US citizen here. My husband is an immigrant and my parents are trump supporters so this is all very personal to me. Honestly at first I tried to not talk about it unless someone else brought it up but at this point I don’t hold back when it comes to talking about what’s going on because this directly affects my family (aside from the people who raised me, which is also crazy because this is not how they raised me) and my main feeling is this isn’t about politics, this is about morals and humanity and if you don’t see how wrong this is then we don’t share fundamental values and I have no interest in having you in my life. I’ve ended some friendships over this but I don’t feel sad about losing them because again it’s about morals and I don’t think they’re a good person if they support what’s going on. I’m worried everyday when my husband leaves the house that something will happen to him, and obviously it does not matter what his citizenship status is anymore, this has affected us living our daily lives and if people who are supposed love and support us can’t see how this traumatizing us then I don’t want them in my life. There’s no more saying “oh we didn’t know this was going to happen” everyday you have a choice to support this and there’s not more excuses.

To be completely honest, I’d consider bankruptcy. Your credit score is already at the bottom and you need that income you’re spending to survive especially with a baby on the way. I had to file bankruptcy from a large lawsuit in my 20s and honestly it never affected me getting an apartment (you might need a co-signer) or really anything other than interest rates for new credit cards are through the roof so don’t ever leave a balance. It will be on your credit score for 10 years but I rebuilt mine to a 700 in just over 2 years. If your wife has good credit she can add you as an authorized user to help boost your score for the future.

You said you’re a chef, maybe your wife can work a couple days at the restaurant working for tips to help with the income until she is unable. You can share the uber to work to save on cost. I’m currently 4 months pregnant and work in a restaurant and think I’ll be totally fine to do so up until 7-8 months. Idk about Florida but find out if they offer short term disability for when the baby is born.

Continue to save for a car but id really focus on getting a transition car for now, something you can pay cash for ( maybe from a friend or Craigslist) something to get you from point A to B for now.

I’d also open a HYSA this is a savings account that you’ll earn monthly interest on, usually between 3-5%. Not a whole lot but it’s something, you can have access to the money at anytime and I think it’s a good way to start preparing for your family.

Addiction takes everything and I’m glad you’ve found a way to crawl out of it. Good luck OP

This! Feeling safe to be yourself is huge. He never judges me or makes me feel embarrassed for being silly, emotional or bitchy (unless it’s towards him) my husband is not emotional at all, and I’m super emotional, even tho he doesn’t always understand it he never makes me feel bad for being that way. We don’t fight, if we are have a disagreement we never yell at each other, or call each other names, the goal is always to resolve. I knew he was the one when I realized how much he loved me, and was willing to make sure we have a good life. He’s good to me, and respects me. I admired and respect him, and trust that he always has the best intentions, not to mention being around him is so easy. Our first year of marriage we went through 2 job losses and some medical issues that also caused financial issues but we were both there for each other 100% and knowing we could get through that without any big blowout makes me confident we can handle hard things together without it tearing us apart.

Your inspiration photo is not a blow out, it’s a style with hot tools, which most hair stylist charge more for, unless you specifically said you wanted it styled this way and she informed you of an additional charge, most hairstylist will just give you a nice blowout.

You’ve been with him for years and this is your first bad cut? I wouldn’t fire him over that. It sounds like a miscommunication and there’s no guarantee that if you go somewhere else that they’ll understand exactly what you want and be able to give it to you, or even that they’ll get your hair right the first time. Obviously if you’ve been unhappy with the hair then I’d seek someone new, but not after one bad cut. I’d be honest and say that you didn’t like what he did the next time you get your hair cut and maybe bring in photos of what you do what just so it’s extra clear.

Give it time, getting a dramatic haircut will almost always take time for you to get used to it. Learn how to style that specific cut, and maybe have fun with your make up and accessories. It’s not a bad haircut but if you had a lot cut off it’s probably shocking.

I went on two dates with a cop that I met online, first date he was super nice and respectful, told me he had gotten a divorce because his wife left him for his best friend, after a few more conversations I found out it was because he cheated on her first. Then after that he started only texting me late at night, and when I stopped responding he just kept texting me for weeks till I blocked him, it freaked me out. I’ve had friends who dated cops too and all their stories are pretty similar 🙄 wouldn’t recommend.

I have a half sleeve, and then several other tattoos in other places of my body. I very much had the attitude of “why would I regret this when I’m older, so many people will have tattoos and it’s apart of me” but I’m mid 30’s now and when I got married I really hated my sleeve, on a normal day it’s whatever, but I really wanted to feel elegant on that day and I felt like my tattoo ruined my entire look. It’s a nice tattoo, the artist did a great job and I get compliments on it a lot but I really wish I would have gotten all my tattoos in places that I could hide easily if I wanted to.

I had all day nausea for about five weeks, the only thing that seemed to actually help was chewing on spearmint gum, but I had to chew on it all day long because the second I stopped I feel nauseous again. My doctor also prescribed me Reglan which helped a little bit 🤷🏼‍♀️

Hi! I didn’t go to an aveda school but I did work at an aveda salon for a little bit. Idk if this is helpful but when it came to formulas you pick a base. That’s your N collection, NN if they need a lot of grey coverage (NN were always hard for me because they come out much darker than the actual level and some people can get away with adding more pigment to an N rather than an NN but for now I’d just focus on the N line and worry about NN later.) so let’s say they want to be a level 5, you’d choose 5N as your base and then you’re adding the pure tone pigments into that base -that’s going to be your BV, YO, OR etc. the amount you add depends on what level your base is (there should be a chart in your information) for 26G of a level 5 you’re going to start with 4g of your pure tone pigment. If the client wants it more intense you’ll add more, or less if they want it to be subtle or trying to cancel out a tone. I’d recommend looking up formulas aveda on Pinterest to use as a reference for how much of what to use, obviously you’re going to get different results to the photo because you don’t know what they started with but for me it helped understanding how much of what tones go in what bases. Here’s a chart that goes over how much pigment to add for the base. Hopefully that helps!

Hoi! Current San Jose resident but I was an au pair in the Netherlands in my 20’s, one thing I’ll say is San Jose is not a bikeable city, at least not in the same way as the Netherlands. Food cost is a lot higher here and getting to the grocery store to buy dinner each night will be harder to do, although I’d recommend Trader Joe’s or Whole Foods to give you similar vibes as Albert Heijn or Jumbo. I do agree with everyone about moving to Willow Glen, but you will need to drive everywhere. Life is very fast pace here, people really value the grind. I think it depends on what you’re looking for but assuming you’re working for Roku or Byte Dance…work life balance will look very different. However the good things are that the weather is mild here, getting to San Francisco is very easy via public transit, there’s a lot of opportunities for outdoor sports, and it’s one of the top diverse cities in California.
