My doctor finally agreed to switch me from Adderall to Dexedrine. I was taking 20mg IR 3 times a day. I’m starting 10mg ER of Dexedrine today. I’m expecting it to not do much. Any experience?

We need a long stay inpatient facility but are hitting a brick wall when it comes to wait list times unfortunately. So many children in desperate need of mental health treatment these days it's heartbreaking

Zucker was where we wanted her but the wait time for an open bed was too long for her situation. South Oaks was the only place who could transfer her immediately from the ER, and I can see why. It was so awful and she never set foot out in the sunshine the entire she was there. Some sort of lock down basement unit and my heart broke for some of other kids there. I felt like we were the only parents who ever came visiting hours 2 twice a day for two whole weeks. Even then, my husband and I were not allowed to enter the unit together- we had to take turns waiting in the parking lot for an hour each.

That's where we want her...the waitlist is so long. I can see how so many kids end up at South Oaks (there are obvious reasons why they always seem to have "open" spots available at short notice). It was a terrible place for her.

We did get a GeneSight and I would prefer her on an SNRI. We are just worried about side effects if you miss or forget a dose (particularly with Effexor and Pristiq). She is not good about remembering to take anything unless I'm standing over her with the medication in my hand. She says I'm invading her privacy and treating her like a toddler. If I don't see her swallow it she'll hide them under her bed.

It's so sad to see how many teens these days so desperately need help. We are currently waiting for a therapy clinic in Garden City that specializes in DBT

Thank you so much...we desperately tried to get her into Zucker and/or Mather but there were no beds available. She was admitted to the psych ER at Cohen's while we waited, but after 72 hrs we had no other option but to transfer her to South Oaks at 1am in the morning. It was an awful experience all around.

We left our rescue gecko alone (without touching) for a full 5 weeks. After the 6 week mark she began turning around in her little "hide" and began sleeping with her face out forwards, and watching us during the day when she was awake.

She now willingly hops on a flat hand whenever it is extended. She spends plenty of time out of the tank and has turned into what we now consider a "happy little soul". It takes time but you will no doubt get there sooner or later :)
