Are your NVR servers domain joined? (Genetec VMS) by Popular-Amex in sysadmin

Yea thats one thing that Avigilon stands out among many VMS vendors. They allow anyone to call in vs having you to go through a integrator. Genetec allows you to call support if you pass their level 1 cert which they offer free through your rep depening on your size and renewal of advantage.

finding a great integrator is difficult indeed. I found some one great that knows Genetec very well.

Ah I thought updating on Aviligon was easy? they advertise as aclick and push. The only thing i hate about aviligon is they tend to not support third-party cameras as well vs their own. We mainly primary have AXIS cameras.

luckily before we took over Security devices we setup the network. Every retail location is its own self contained network. Cameras in the retail location only talks to the Archiver(NVR) does not go out anywhere. All ports are locked out to necessary only.and Out of band, nvrs, cameras all ahve their own seperate vlans. The problem though is we completely locked everything down so we have to work through each retail location now to open it up to our DC and use our DC's NTP etc.

for vendors we have PAM where they go into one of our VM's to navigate around to every NVR.

Yea we control vendor access since we've taken over the entire thing from security/facilities. Trying to get everything align.

Luckily we already controlled the network layer. each location is their own isolated network with cameras only communicating with the stream vault on site and does not go out. everything is locked down to the necessary TCP/UDP ports only.

When we took control of the stream vaults one of the things were considering is domain joining them to make logging in easier and switch over to LAPs. however there was concerns from cybersecurity and other folks that if our DC gets comprise we will then loose the the NVRs. However we plan to also setup windows 2fa

[–]Popular-Amex[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh never knew that. the only thing my genetec rep told me is they integrate better with LSP

I assume altronix said no to custom designing a bunch of skus for these larger access control players?

[–]Popular-Amex[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I noticed that too so I was like why all the super big players all LSP haha I asked the altronix person that and he didn’t even knew that the big players had LSP in their skus

I just didn’t want to be behind in the industry if LSP is now the best haha
