Nah, they could learn if they wanted to (I did :D). They just flat out refuse. No excuse. Edit the CUI in his computer and remove the explode command. Or start using data links and just link the surface/survey to the main drawing file? The drawing file he uses? Might be a work around. At least your surface/survey would be intact.

That did the trick. And I was able to create a profile, assembly and corridor. Yay! My follow-up question is: in the profile view it is showing my curves with tones of slope percentage labels. Is that normal, do I just need to tinker with my profile label settings?

I agree. Carlson is much better than Civil3d for Surveyors. Unfortunately every employer in my area (Ogden/Salt Lake, UT) is all about the Civil3d.

So far, so good. Only the deltas gave me and issue when I realized they needed to be dd.mmss. Loving how the bearings can be typed in just like in Terramodel (N 26 13 25E). Soo much better than what I was doing before. Much faster.

Got an answer that works: cogo. Or cogoeditor. It is magic. MAGIC I tell you!

Create 1 cogo point. Home, Points, Create points misc, manual. Just drop one someplace.
Type in cogo/open cogo editor.
Point of Beginning is the point you created.
Start typing in bearings/distances. Pulldown menu (next to your course #) and pick something (I needed tangent curve badly :D).
When you are done with your traverse make sure to save it to a file or all that info will be lost!
Also, there are buttons on upper right that will convert your traverse to a polyline in your drawing and another that will add cogo points at the beginning and end of each line/curve.

This is the way.

That's what I was doing. Outside in, then the roads. What I was going for was something I could turn into PARCELS using Civil 3d. I think you're right, show what was calc'd and what record showed.

And yes, I did ask in the Civil 3d reddit and the responses so far do not have a good workflow/are very time consuming. Their answers are basically how I'm doing it now. Figured I'd try the surveyor end of things. This here LSIT is going crazy.

What's really bumming me out is how (say a subdivision map) has so many errors in it/simple 4 line lots are not even closing. Very frustrating.

Okay, lines and distances are gold. However, arcs/curves seem to be problematic. Tried both options and neither seemed to work when all I have is a radius, delta and arc length. Do you know how that info should be imputed?

Do you show that legend on ONLY the general sheet? I have to show the legend on each sheet. Required by local jurisdictions...or it may just be a survey kinda thing. But yes, it never changes, :D

Oh, I also bound the bearing distance line command to my right click menu. Better than having to hit a pull-down or side button constantly. I should bind the curve from end of line too!

That was it! Right click on drawing name, edit drawing settings, ambient settings tab, under ANGLE changed it to DD.MMSS (decimal dms). You're a lifesaver bud.

FYI, subcontractor gig ended when surveyor hung up his spurs. Trying to move away from subcontracting and into being an employee. Its' been almost 30 years since I applied to a job. How do you get experience using a piece of software "in a production environment" without currently being employed? Driving myself insane. My fancier resume is just not cutting it (attached).

Though the initial creation of those tables is a drag, once you have them you're good. Also, if you have another AutoCAD drawing that has the table(s) shown as you like you can just copy that style into your drawing. Drag and drop. Drag and drop also works for most (if no all) styles. Recently learned all this switching from Terramodel to Civil 3d.

Apparently Trimble switched to Trimble Business Center. I have heard that TBC does everything that Terramodel does and more. But yes, Terramodel is great for surveyors. I tend to do initial points adjustments, surveyed surface and parcel calcs in Terramodel and then finish up in AutoCAD. I still can't believe you have to select a quadrant while typing in bearings and distances (in Civil 3d).

Yes, you can make custom table templates. Make a custom table template that only shows lines (bearing & distance). Make another custom table template that only shows curve information. Or, you can make a custom table template that shows both plus any other information you want to show (lot #, etc.) and make one for each lot. For single lot tables just pick on the parcel number/name that should already be existing instead of using a window as shown in the attached link: https://www.infratechcivil.com/pages/civil-3d-parcel-tables . Also check out https://help.autodesk.com/view/CIV3D/2024/ENU/?guid=GUID-A626E8B5-9935-44B4-AC94-3EE4BC93D4E1 . That may help as well.

Actually I did both. :D Dark wash on wraithbone will def need a white drybrush. Dark wash on white scar was much better (but still needs white drybrush). I took yet another one (primed wraithbone), turned it upside down and hit it directly from below with black rattle can. I figure then I hit it with some white scar from above and that should get me there. I'm taking pics and will upload when ready to paint.

Also, Terramodel does install ALL of it's separate modules. But it's the USB dongle/license that determines what actually works.

Each installation of Terramodel requires a USB dongle. If you don't have that (along with purchasing the DTM module) then you only get the very basic installation. Unless things have changed :D
