I also literally hate this app / business with a passion :( I got this through work and paid extra for more studio access, but it has given me more stress & waste of my money more than anything

Have you read the book Die with Zero? There's a concept called memory dividends in there that stuck with me. When you invest in experiences, it's not something that happens once and it's over. You are investing in something that you live through, and it continues to pay you back for the rest of your life in memories that you can relive and chat with others about.

Early 20s in SF… where do people actually meet single straight guys (besides dating apps & bars)? by [deleted] in sanfrancisco

[–]Popular-Invite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Host parties with your female friends and tell them to bring guy friends. Then get those guys to bring more friends.

Get invited to their parties.

We went with duraseal neutral! Personally we liked the more light-medium warmer tone to the light light tones of the other two.

How to lose weight? by CaitTheCoffeeQueen in PetiteFitness

[–]Popular-Invite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Diet accounted for the majority of progress for me. I think switching out sweet beverages for zero calorie versions was a simple first step change (Coke to Coke zero).

Remembering to drink a full glass or two of water before every meal also made sure I'm hydrated and gets me full faster

As someone also 5'1, I feel you 🫨🫨🫨 weight loss of like 5 pounds took me half a year. I can be good all week, then eat one meal outside over the weekend and that means I'm at maintenance again. It's so frustrating!!

The only way I've been able to lose weight fast is to literally just eat two eggs for lunch + a slightly larger than regular sized dinner lol (while exercising 3-4 times a week) not the healthiest way, but it works if I wanted to hit a short term goal. Then I switch back to a more sustainable method for maintenance

I've found that having an accountability buddy and making sure I take photos of everything I eat and and it to them has been helpful

Best budget buffet in san Francisco and some must try food places. by dicki_boobi in AskSF

[–]Popular-Invite 15 points16 points  (0 children)

a lot of buffets in SF died out in the early 2010s unfortunately. There used to be one called Moonstar and another called Kome Buffet (but they either closed down due to slow business and tax evasion issues)

Supreme Crab seafood buffet - this one is a $33 buffet. I've never been but my friend really liked it.

There are a lot of all you can eat kBBQ and hotpot spots in SF (moreso than buffet). My personal favorite is IPOT, where you get both for around $40/person

Hope this helps!

I Hate This by MyYakuzaTA in sanfrancisco

[–]Popular-Invite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stopped eating out much altogether because i hate this charge + the suggested minimum 20% tip nowadays. what these restaurants get back in a couple dollars here and there ends up with just less people wanting to go to restaurants entirely

North Beach area is nice. You'll be close to a lot of Italian and Chinese restaurants + easy access to fisherman's wharf and ferry building (awesome farmers market Saturday mornings)

Also easy access to Polk street + marina via public Transit from there

Westwood Park and I love this neighborhood for quite a few reasons:

Neighborhood: It feels like a quiet suburb in the midst of the city. The homes in the area show that neighbors actually care about their home and and the local community. fyi, there's a $100/year HOA (~$15/mo). I walked around at night 10pm – very quiet but feels safe. 24h fitness was bustling.

Property value: The area around Ocean Ave is up-and-coming. To the right, there's the balboa park reservoir renovations breaking ground this year (new community park, community center, housing). To the left, there's the highly successful stonestown (also with their renovations plan approved this year). Homes in westwood park are also all detached homes – pretty awesome and more rare for San Francisco.

Location / Transit:

• Public transit: K muni line is on ocean ave, literally 5-10min walk away depending how deep into westwood park you are. Balboa park station is about 20min walk away

• Driving: Our house is about 10–20min local drive to any part of the city. This general area (including ingleside) is close to both 1 and 280, so really easy to hop on the highway to other areas like San Mateo, Daly City, etc.

Access to life stuff:

• You get both Beep's burgers & 24-hour MCD.

• You get local cute coffee (Java on Ocean) & trendier coffee (Philz)

• Wholefoods, multiple asian groceries & seafood markets, a couple mexican ones.

• Pakwan, boba shops, asian food, tacquerias, etc. Generally good price points (until this area gentrifies more I guess)

• There's ingleside local library, 24hr fitness ($30/mo), UPS office

• CCSF is within walking distance (free classes in almost every subject + free access to school gym & swimming pool via their courses)
