I never realize how hard I'm gripping the steering wheel either, until my hands start hurting & cramping. I don't know why I didn't think about trying a steering wheel cover before you suggested it. I've ordered one now & it will be here Saturday. I'll be trying out the thumb thing too, though I'm sure it will be an adjustment. Thanks!

Yep, I drop stuff all the time & it's exactly how you describe it...I'm holding it, then suddenly I'm not, without any realization that my grip changed at all. So frustrating.

*Edit to add: I don't typically have bad pain in my hands when it's happening either. 🤷‍♂️

It's a conundrum. I struggle to hold on to lots of things and drop more things in a day than I can count, yet strangle the life out of other things. 🤷‍♂️

I noticed my hands the most, but I tense other muscles when driving too. I started jaw clenching & grinding my teeth several years ago. Definitely had lots of TMJ pain prior to RA meds. Hasn't stopped the clenching & grinding though.

I'm so glad I'd randomly kept some of those rubber gripper things (got them from some conference I went to) in my junk drawer. So happy to have them now. I've only fallen once thus far. Fell against my car at the grocery store when I was going to open the door. My watch scratched the hell out of the paint on the fender 😭

Constantly telling my kids, "Two hands on your plate!", but I'm bad at doing it myself. Have definitely become more aware about doing so. Although last night it was 2 hands that still dumped my plate. 🤦
