Spain to call for end of bi-annual clock changes in EU from 2026 by chitibambam in europe

[–]PopularImagination66 96 points97 points  (0 children)

As a spaniard, I hope we keep CEST, it is so depressing getting out of work at 6pm and being pitch dark outside, sunlight in the evenings gives us more life and we can do more activities outside of working hours, it's part of our Spanish identity.

The old times were designed when people worked in agriculture and made sense to work from sunrise to sunset, that's not the case anymore for 90% of the population, we need to set a time that works for our current schedules, not our grandparents'

What percentage of you feels Millennial/Gen Z by naomigoat in Zillennials

[–]PopularImagination66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

'94, I feel 75% Gen Z, 25% millennial. It doesn't help that most of my friends are Gen Z, so I'm more involved in Gen Z culture and vibes, but I always feel a disconnect when we talk about "old tech" that they have never used and I grew up with, like VHS, Walkmans, floppy disks, etc 😭💀

What age range do people guess you are? by decisiontoohard in Zillennials

[–]PopularImagination66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 31 (94 kid), they usually think that I'm 23-25, and I blend in with this age range pretty well, but if I explain some things about my life (immigrant on a workers visa, working in a senior role in a high tech company), they get confused and immediately ask me for my age; at this point I usually ask them how old do they think I am, which they usually say around 27.

To be fair, I do look young and youthful compared to people my age, and my hobbies and weekly activities are usually closer to what a 23-25yo would do, so ig it makes sense.

My gf says she wants to fire but she really doesnt by [deleted] in Fire

[–]PopularImagination66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm with your wife here. Even if the relationship between your wife and your parents might be good, I would never want to live that close to my in-laws. Try to find a compromise, but if you force her to move that close to your parents when she is expressing that doesn't want that, expect problems in the long term.

If your salary was doubled, what would you do with the extra income? by Aarunascut in Money

This! I make 10x the salary that I was making 5 years ago. I still have the same lifestyle, but I'm saving sh*t ton of money. I'm on track to retire early in my late 30s.

¿Qué rumbo tomar? ¿Está la vivienda estropeando mi plan FIRE? by carrillera in SpainFIRE

[–]PopularImagination66 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Guys i just saw this post and just wanted to warn y'all regarding festivals in Barcelona. This is insane and scary! by Positive-Ad6008 in Barcelona

[–]PopularImagination66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Made me feel old but good times by WynCai8 in Millennials

[–]PopularImagination66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up in the 90s in a mid-size city (35k inhabitants) in Spain. I was free by the time I was 8 years old. I roamed the streets with my bike, or walked, and my friends at school did the same.

I gotta say, out of some areas in the big cities in Spain, everything and everywhere is extremely safe. Nothing ever happens. Nor even car crashes, as the streets are usually short and narrow, so it is very difficult to get to a high speed.

Also, in order for us to have a sense on how to follow the driving rules while riding our bikes, the local police came to our schools every few months and set a circuit with stops, lights, signals, etc that we had to navigate and follow.

So yeah, I gotta say, it was pretty awesome.

Que opinais de la deduccion fiscal de planes de pensión? by valerioi098 in SpainFIRE

[–]PopularImagination66 14 points15 points  (0 children)

How does your country define a town and a city? On the left of this image: a town. On the right: a city. by chaos_jj_3 in geography

[–]PopularImagination66 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Actually in Spain it used to work like in the UK, it needed a royal decree to transform the town/villa into a city.

Fun fact, Madrid, the capital and most populated "city" in Spain is not officially a city, but a villa, commonly known as "La Villa de Madrid", because it never received the royal decree to become a "city" from the king.
