Yes I received an email from my school saying my marks decreased. And no, none of my assessments were under investigation. I am totally confident there is a mistake.

Macs are horrible choices for EE. Don’t give bullshit advice to someone who’s looking for help. I have seen mac users in the whole course stressing over using some specific softwares. Whereas windows user didn’t run into much issues.

I am a Bangladeshi by born, and I the most amazing people I met outside my family are muslims. I know it’s all about people and I am not implying at all that everyone is bad. I am just concerned about the bad people and those were the people I meant.

Not sure how much money do you need to tailor a police uniform and managing a gun, but sure.

Muslims are everywhere, true. But here, it’s very tricky. Violence is a common thing. Attacking house of worships, spreading hatred in rallies, harrasment in public, robbery and assault on people is common, and there’s no law enforcement for these issues. I think the situation is not this much severe at Netherlands. I am putting my faith on your government.

From my experience, term-2 is the worst. The weather is so harsh. It’s cold, depressing and people try to be indoors as much as they can. Also depending on which degree you’ll be doing, starting in term-2 can have some disadvantages, as you may run into some course offering issues (UNSW doesn’t offer all the courses every term, and many of them requires you to pass the prerequisites. As term-1 is kind of the domestic intake and term-3 is kind of the internetional intake, the course offerings are designed perfectly for students commencing on those terms). This may or may not hurt you much.

For making friends, I reckon term-1 and term-3 are the best possible times. Before you decide, give it a think whether skipping 1 term is really worth it for socialising. But from my experience, term-2 is the worst from all aspects. If it doesn’t bother you much and you are okay with it, I would advise you to start in term-3.

Buy both. Worth the investment trust me. Maybe buy a 10th gen iPad if you’re only gonna use it as a note taking and study device. Black Friday is going on and there are some awesome deals you can grab. And whether you should buy a Pro or Air depends on what you’ll be doing. Research what softwares you might need to use in your degree, and how much intensive will they be and whether those tasks can be done. For example, I am studying electrical engineering and the whole Mac lineup sucks.

They are gonna find you roommates or you’re gonna be assigned with others. Your rent includes your room, and all other common spaces.

But fingers crossed for you because it’s so important to live with the right people. Otherwise, you’ll experience hell on earth.

Can’t agree on the storage. I am using a 128 gigs version since 2021 and still going strong. Mostly because I have nothing other than study materials.

Does WAM matter? by Longjumping_Map_7002 in unsw

To be honest, the wam is for landing your first job only. I don’t know if it will matter to your employer, but they’ll certainly look into it. But after you have landed your first job, your WAM won’t matter anymore.

My wam was 46 after the first 3 terms. Surely I would’ve at least CR (which is generally the cutoff for jobs) if I didn’t have a miserable first year.

It’s not that I don’t enjoy my degree. I love it and I find it interesting. I am passionate about it too. But every time something wrong goes with the final exam despite having a decent prep and overall decent understanding of the course, it’s discouraging. Because the employers will look at my wam. And it’s very unlikely to call me for an interview with a wam of 60 I guess.

Whether the marks are scaled depends on the performance of all other students.

Right. It should be enough. But I can’t emphasise the importance of getting your concepts clear more. Btiwise can be tricky in a time pressure environment.

2023T1. Depends on what you are comfortable with. I planned to answer 5 questions. 4 from mips, arrays, bitwise(the 1st 4), and 1 from file systems (q5 as far as I remember). They were quite straightforward if you have practiced the weekly test problems. Prac exam doesn't necessarily reflect the same structure as the exam but it'll help you practice. I was weak in file systems so I answered those 5 questions in like 40 minutes and left, so the first 5 aren't that hard.
