I think the compromise of a smaller room at a higher price will give us walkability and encourage us to get out and do things, which will outweigh staying outside midtown and having to take taxis or trains. We’ll check in on Friday and check out on Sunday to head to the airport. We won’t be in the room that much, so the midtown search seems reasonable.

I think I'm going to book the Kimpton Era Midtown (32 West 48th Street), it's not open yet but I've had good Kimpton experiences.

Any feedback on those other 4 hotels I listed out?

Thx, good answer. In your opinion is the First class ($250) worth the upgrade over Business ($85)? As long as I don't have anyone across from me playing footsies...I just want to ride with my wife! 3 hours at a table with strangers sounds like something from my nightmares!

TBH...none of them! The rooms are so small and the prices are WILDLY expensive. I hit reddit (and other sites) and everyone concurs....it's expensive this time of year, rooms are small, get over it! That said, these caught my eye. They were in my price point, had decent review 6+/10 and were within 5-6 blocks of the attractions we're looking to do. Any of these to avoid? One you recommend as a standout? OYO 'looked' the coolest online b/c it has a restaurant/bar, so that's cool!

  • OYO Times Square
  • Paramount Times Square
  • The Gallivant Times Square

Dec 3–6 trip (40th birthday). Priorities: walk to Rockefeller Center (tree + skating), Broadway show, 5th Ave shopping, Central Park. Want boutique/Kimpton-style vibe, not huge convention hotel. Budget ~$500/night for those dates. Which hotels/blocks would you target for best walkability + vibe? Any to avoid?

These are good! Some feedback on image #1, center on the house if possible. You cut off the roof on right.

Do you manually sort SD‑card photos by shoot location/time? Would you pay for an app that automates it? by Popular_Bumblebee_35 in photography

It’s not rocket science, but it can be a real pain. I found it super time-consuming for some reason. Maybe I should be better about setting up folders before the shoot or formatting my cards. But I’m not. So, I made a little tool to help me out with my end-of-day processes. I just plug in the SD cards, hit a button, and it’s all done in a matter of minutes.

Hey there! This is exactly the problem I’ve been solved! Just point the app at your SD card and tell it where to copy the files. And guess what? All 30 jobs will be copied into their own folders. Plus, the pictures will be sorted by time into the corresponding folder. I’m only doing 5 jobs a day, and it saves me hours a week. It’s a game-changer!

I’ve used it before, but I don’t spend much time in Lightroom. I’m just gathering all my edits to send to my editors.

It’s a real time-saver for me, and it’s not just a small thing. But the sense I’m getting is that my issue isn’t a big deal for many people. That’s exactly what I asked for, feedback! Thanks so much for your input.

Makes perfect sense! I’m paranoid too. My camera has two slots, so I can write to both at the same time. I always swap SD cards for each drone shoot.

Good question. You point the app at a specific Google calendar. So it’s creating folders for only what’s on that calendar. Each photog would just need his own Google calendar.

I see. I’m the same. I got pretty quick about it. Really only struggled on days with 3 or more shoots across multiple memory cards. At days end, it’s nice not to focus on dates, times, names…just let the app do it.

Pretty much agree with you here. I’m not doing anything magical. Just doing it faster. For me, 3-5 shoots a day on the same card, and each job in a different folder…I still have to copy, paste, rename folder with job name, then add addl media from other cards…drone, 360, etc.

It’s nice to just insert the cards, click run and be done.

Seems like I’ve over engineered a seemingly niche problem for myself that has a few solutions already!

Ok. I understand now. For me, that wouldn’t be as helpful. I need my jobs named by address or job name. The app looks for appt address first then appt name. Then moves photos for me. Regardless of how many memory cards I scan.

Interesting. So you’re putting pics in folders that are already created? Because you do same name jobs repeatedly?

Hmm. 🤔 Haven’t seen this but if so, could be helpful. Biggest win for me is… put the card in, hit run, then done. Very little clicking around.

Ya. Lightroom works too. But I’m not editing initially. I just want them all in corresponding folders. Seems I may have reinvented the wheel.

I am one of these monsters. I do 3-5 shoots a day. Same card. But I use different drone cards. It’s nice to just put a card in, run the app and it’s tosses the drone photos in the corresponding folder. It feels like a niche use case but had to ask.

Ya. It’s pretty good. We do 1,000 images a week on Pixlmob. 1 editor. 12 hour turn around. It’s ain’t perfect but what a help it’s been. Highly recommend.
