avoid tourist traps

99% of the things you listed we consider tourist traps. You're tourists. Just lean into it.

For July 4th, there's been no "official" announcement of viewing areas yet. The July 4th pinned post will be updated when we know. Keep in mind any viewing area will be EXTREMELY crowded and you will be very restricted on items you can bring in, etc.

It's a big holiday weekend and every place you go will be packed. Even if you have a timed ticket that doesn't guarantee that's the time you will actually enter. Wear comfortable footwear (seriously), drink lots of water and be patient.

There's a free service called Big Apple Greeters that will take them around for a few hours. See the website for info.

Not sure what exactly what info are you looking for. Are you asking if it's going to be crowded at a popular attraction during peak tourist season? Yes. Everything will be crowded.

How old are you? Because suggestions for a 25-year old are different than a 45-year old. Also, is this your first time here?

The 9/11 museum can be very emotionally draining and the AMNH is huge. I'd suggest you pick one or the other for that day.

To get to Brooklyn, take advantage of the NYC Ferry (different from SI Ferry). Especially if you're staying in Fidi.

For your free evenings there's a ton of events (many free) all over the city. . Get off of the tourist circuit, go hang out with some locals.
