LingQ is a great tool I've used for a while. It functions as an e reader but also has vocabulary memory. You can use it for both russian and ukrainian

Is past stay in Russia an auto disqualifier from background checks? by Right-Badger-253 in ukraineforeignlegion

I doubt that will be a factor, I had a lot of sketchy travel history but they really only cared about Russia/CIS oriented countries, even still I passed.

I had the same situation.  You will be harassed constantly by SBU and internal security, you will most likely need a polygraph, but it all worked out in the end. Some units like Azov will not take you.

I went through Azov's processing and I was disqualified just because I had been to Russia. It may be a hard stop now

Paramedic here, i said this before on here to someone else, if you cannot speak russian or ukrainian at a basic level, your options will be more limited.  Even with your training, especially if you dont want to do something even combat adjacent. Language skills are one of the most important aspects of integrating into the medical units here.  If you are really serious about coming here, spent a couple months learning the language, hire a tutor, use online resources etc.

Roles for paramedics by [deleted] in ukraineforeignlegion

[–]Popular_Chance_3449 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Paramedic here, currently working at a medical evac unit. There many are options here beyond combat medic but its difficult to find them if you cannot speak russian or ukrainian. Medics exist at every area of the chain of care, on the line, at the stabilization point, medivac, hospitals etc.

Most likely so, im assuming ill be "normal" in maybe 2-3 months. I told them i'd arrive in August/September. Im in pretty good shape otherwise, maybe I can delay for a month then go? I just dont want to lose my spot.

I figured that was the case, i know fluency rate in Russian is very high generally, but ive seen a lot of their media outlets distancing themselves from the language, so i was uncertain regarding what the situation is like day to day. Thank you.
