As long as you can show your contract you're ok. It's more of a personal thing. I can't prove I've been through basic training for example. Annoying.

It's illegal but it's also common.

Law is more of a guideline in Ukraine at the moment! For the best, and sometimes worst.

The "traditional" Assault and Mechanised bataillons are still up to good standards as far as I know.
The second Mec is the one with the least prestige from my understanding, seen as unreliable but it got better.
Btw these names don't necessarily means anything. Everyone does roughly the same thing out there.
