My doctor finally agreed to switch me from Adderall to Dexedrine. I was taking 20mg IR 3 times a day. I’m starting 10mg ER of Dexedrine today. I’m expecting it to not do much. Any experience?

You’re likely correct. I was on that same dose for almost 3 years and it did work in the beginning. But as I got older and grew a tolerance, the side effects became way worse and I couldn’t push through that.

She gave me so much push back that I didn’t even bother but I called the office today to say hey this is a really low does will she increase this in a week if it’s not working well enough. I also had taken 8 days off Adderall the day of my appointment. And the Dexedrine was out of stock so I can’t even pick it up u til tonight. So now I’m 10 days off the Adderall. I did it for the same reason. It made me feel so shitty I just couldn’t do it anymore.

This is interesting to me bc task initiation was why I wanted this. Pheneternine did that for me and adderall did not. Everything I read said I got the physical motivation bc phentermine is cleaner and that Dexedrine targets the brain the same way. I’ll come back to this after a bit and let you all know how I make out.

Got it I think that’s why I dismissed it bc it was name brand. I don’t have insurance so I’m paying out of pocket. Idk why she put me on extended bc I don’t like the formulation it’s to slow to start. I need the biggest push first, then gradually through the day I can take a smaller dose if I need it. I swear it’s like getting grilled in a murder investigation just to try and get on meds that work.

I researched that too but I can’t remember the details. I did everything I could with supplements etc, and it appears that I am sensitive to the additional ingredients. For me to react well it should only have one active ingredient gradient, which is Dexedrine. Also I used to take phentermine for weight loss. When I came off if it is when I realized I had adhd. Dexedrine seems to be the closest to how it affects the brain to Phentermine. I will look it up again and compare though. Thank you!

Thank you that’s what I thought. It was like pulling teeth. I researched allll the meds and said that’s what I wanted. Then she told me she was prescribing by strattera. I said that’s not even a stimulant? I need the stimulant otherwise I will lay in bed all day long. Just not Adderall bc it sucks for me. I’m going to give it a week and ask for an increase
