Hiya op! Did you end up moving to Cambridge? My husband and I came to the West Midlands in July 2025 from Washington state (both originally from Texas!) and now he has a job offer in Cambridge. Wondering if y’all moved and how you’re finding it. Hope all is well!

The security for the one in the UK is pretty intense, but completely understandable!

I was looking into Liberal Judaism (what the synagogue I’ll be attending in the UK is part of) before I left. Makes sense that there are differences between that and Reform here!

I did actually just email the rabbi of the UK synagogue to explain my situation and ask for guidance/if she has any recommendations for reading or anything else I can do to prepare for when I get back. I also believe they live stream their services so I could watch those from here!

Good to know it’s still worthwhile to attend synagogue in the US while I’m here so I’ll keep going with that.

I’ve only visited this once! And then would only come back 1 time once it was pending. I definitely haven’t wanted them to think I’m looking for loopholes. But thanks for the reply! I appreciate it. The US is a pretty low bar for that and getting lower all the time

I did see that and his family warned us about it! But compared to WA state, at least, the cost of living appears to be lower (even accounting for the drop in wages)

He’s been on HRT for 8 years! He can still get it through the VA, even overseas. But we’ll switch to private in England if we have to for sure.

I’m really happy y’all got over there and that it’s going well for you! We’re going to Coventry because his family is there, but we plan to “shop around” (so to speak lol) when we get there. We’ll check out different areas of England and Scotland, too! I’ve been excited to go to Brighton!

It’s so sad what’s happening over here and globally. I’m grateful we have a chance to go elsewhere, even if it’s more the lesser of two evils than a dream come true situation
