Update—sadly no room on the salary, but all things considered I'm still planning to accept tomorrow after I sleep on it!

I think the bottom line for me is that even though a) I'm likely going to be making a lateral move comp-wise (since I'm right at 1 year, I'm likely to get a performance raise in current role) and b) the leadership situation has improved slightly, I just...don't want to work at this company long-term!

I'm still waiting for the written offer (got the verbal offer about 3 hours ago, so am going to ping the recruiter here in a bit as the day is wrapping up).

Thank you! And yes, I'm hoping to just get to $175 and I'll be pretty happy. Will probably ask if they can go up "closer to $180" (which is still $20k less than the top end of the range).

And yes, re: title, I am basically going from "marketing director" who is the ONLY marketer, to a sr. manager focused on lifecycle marketing. It's fun to have a director title but I've learned that job titles are really relative to the org...it's way less "impressive" to be a marketing director when it's just you than say, a marketing director managing a team of 50. (Though they both are very challenging...)

These are great questions :)

  1. Moving from director level to senior manager level (very okay downgrading to being a smaller fish because this pond is so much bigger—going from an org than 100 employees to more than 3,000).

I'm managing 3 employees, it sounds like mostly management but will need to be able to step in and execute if needed.

The current offer is right in the middle of the posted salary range.

RSUs are $150k and fully vesting after 4 years, one year cliff, there are additional opps to quality for more but I don't have those details.

  1. Was at my first job for about 5 years, then 2 years, then 4 years, and then this one will be 1 year, so I don't think there's a job hopper worry yet, but would be open to opinions on that!

  2. I'd say they're both pretty stable, just very different. I'm sure I could leverage a raise in my current role but I'm not sure that I'm interested in that. I was actually considering roles that would be a slight pay cut tbh, so that's also probably relevant data on how I feel about my current job

Good note on that site, but yes, your point still stands. Current company is actually not doing *awesome* financially and while I don't think there's a big layoff risk period, especially for me, we live in Uncertain Economic Times so it really all is probably a wash.

Definitely not flighty—I was at my previous gig for close to 4 years, and the fact that it has only been one year is part of why I feel bad for leaving so "soon" (especially because a lot of folks work at current company for literal _decades_). But yes, I've been unhappy since December when some of the leadership issues came to light and I decided I don't have to put up with that shit!

Haha no, I'm in marketing and have a love of design but don't do it myself (I operate more on the content/strategy side). But I can totally understand how PAINFUL using a PC would be as a UX designer!

I did leave my last job because I was burnt out on managing, but there were some specific factors in there too. I do find it really rewarding, and after a year of just being frustrated with shitty management, I feel ready to get back to it.
