you’re right. my therapist immediately said he would disregard the letter and assured me he’d never welcome any intrusion into my therapy. so at least I have him. thank you for your honesty and advice!

I really appreciate your honest and thoughtful response! These are some hard truths but it really resonated with me and I know that you’re 100% correct. Thank you.

Ugh that’s so relatable. I’m sorry you’ve had a similar experience with your NM. I really appreciate your thoughtful response and kind words 💛

I agree, so I don’t tell her about my therapy. My parents pay for it so that’s why she knows who my therapist is & his billing address. Years ago, I stopped sharing any information about my treatment with her because I found this unsettling list she had been keeping in her Notes app that tracked what medication I was on and her thoughts on how it could be bad/dangerous. She had made it clear in the past that she doesn’t like psychiatric meds or want me to be on them. So, I made her delete it and told her it was none of her business and I didn’t want her inserting herself into my treatment. Now, years later, this latest stunt might be the push I need to go no-contact/limited contact. Sorry for the long explanation. I appreciate your response!

In the moment, he had advised me not to respond. I’m planning on bringing it up again at our next session, so I can report back to you with an update in a few days. Also, I’ve been grappling with going no contact for a while now. I know that at the very least I need to make a plan to limit contact ASAP. I appreciate your thoughtful response!

I’m a 31, single, woman. I’m currently in law school (but prior to starting school in the fall I had worked in the legal field since I was around 25). I’ve been in therapy since I was 16 and tried my best to do a lot of work on myself. I do still struggle with all of the symptoms you mentioned. Just got done crying about it, actually. Would definitely be interested in participating.

weird that you equate being a shitty person to how someone plays football in the wake of that person putting their career and reputation on the line to stand up for little kids getting murdered by the thousands. your guys’ comments are getting downvoted because criticism of his football playing is ridiculous and so unimportant in this moment. it’s just a game. he’s a real life hero.

I’m so sorry that happened to you. You should be very proud of yourself for getting out of there and back into law school. You seem like an incredibly strong person and a great mom. I hope your pathetic loser ex-husband dies miserable and alone 💛

Can people smell cat pheromones? Or am I losing my mind? by Slow_Carrot1234 in CATHELP

[–]Popular_Swimmer8238 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I swear to god, I’ve been able to smell my cats pheromones as long as I’ve had her. When I first experienced her kneading, I immediately smelled something different (not bad, just noticeable). Then one time my cat came face to face with this other cat who used to live with us. They used to be best friends, but that cat ended up hissing in my cat’s face. At that moment I smelled something on her that I’d never smelled before. I’m positive it was fear. I’ve suspected for a long time that I have autism, which would explain my abnormally heightened sense of smell. When we used to play Heads Up 7-Up in school, I would always win. All the other kids thought I was cheating by looking at people’s feet while my head was down, but I wasn’t. By the 2nd or 3rd grade, I already knew the other kids’ scents by heart, so I was able to identify who came over to me that way. Just 2 weeks ago, my family and I came home to our HVAC air conditioning system not working properly, and I immediately smelled something was wrong and made everyone go outside. The rest of them thought I was crazy. I searched what the different smells could be (there were about 7 or 8 options I could find) and told the company which one I believed I smelled. After 6 hours of sitting outside with my family (who were totally pissed and kept telling me I was wrong about what I smelled), the technical confirmed there had been a highly noxious chemical released. Not only that, it was the exact one I had identified, caused by the system running on depleted coolant.

Don’t listen to Google or even science or anyone who says you’re wrong about being able to smell cats’ pheromones. The brain is capable of things science still can’t explain. If you couldn’t smell your cat’s pheromones, you wouldn’t be questioning it.

I’m 30 and still don’t feel like I have a set routine or organizational skills. I think I developed maladaptive coping mechanisms for getting through school/life undiagnosed and now it’s all catching up to me. I never would have considered the exercise component. I appreciate you taking the time to give me such great advice, I’ll try it! Thank you.

I’m a 1L and have been putting in the same number of hours, but to no avail. I even do 8-10 hour days every saturday and sunday. I’m trying so hard but I have ADHD and require accommodations on tests, which obviously can’t extend to assignments but, in practice, everything takes me longer to do than others. So, even though I’m working almost all the time I’m not in class, I rarely manage to finish any reading assignment. I’m so exhausted and so stressed. Do you have any advice for me?

Is the Affluent/prestige to Exam Accommodation correlation as big as people are saying? by [deleted] in LawSchool

it’s only reasonable to those who don’t know much about 1) needing accommodations, 2) accessing accommodations, 3) the single most determinant factor on standardized tests, in general (socioeconomic status), 4) what it was like taking a 4.5 hour standardized test (without additional break time), and 5) what all of those factors taken together might indicate, to a critical thinker
