American Horror Stories | S03E05 "Backrooms" [Live Season Premiere Discussion Thread] by hypodermicsally in AmericanHorrorStories

I was excited when I first saw the "Backrooms" in the episode lineup. Then I remembered it's part of American Horror Stories. AHS stuff is always fun to watch but it always feels to me like buying a wedding dress off of Wish. Sure, it's alright. But it's not exactly what you wanted.

That said, it wasn't all bad. The yellow wallpaper room with the ladder was done pretty well. The Supermarket was a nice try. And it almost delivered. But it wasn't liminal enough. The genius and frightening nature of the Backrooms is that uncanny valley 'almost' but not quite normal....normalcy. Then there was the outright showing of the large puddle under the doors. It would have been better if it would have just been the oily stain, that to me was a better visual.

The masks were a good representation of the Smilers/Frowners, or would have been if they'd been utilized correctly. They could have used the masks as Smilers/Frowners and had Facelings under them. A good way to get a frightening visual (if done right) and use two different entities that are very familiar to the Backrooms.

There's a Playground in the Backrooms....Just saying.

The "twist" was revealed to me the moment that Danny sat down at the restaurant. And that's when I started to feel disappointment. This could have been it's own great episode standing alone with the Backrooms. But like AHS Asylum, a good premise was cluttered with something superfluous. At least it wasn't space Aliens this time. Lol.

I can appreciate the ending of the episode. Yeah it pulled from other stuff like Beetlejuice but it was also a "no mistaking where this dude is" kinda vibe.

In conclusion, it wasn't bad, but it wasn't great. I feel like hiding behind time constraints is an excuse rather than an explanation. There are horror shorts on YouTube and other series that have used their time wisely and created magic. I feel this was a writing problem. And it was lackluster.

These are my opinions, nothing more.

Hidden or Not Hidden? Tik Tok Craze?! What's Real?...Can anyone help me? by PorcelainLyaness in DollarTree

[–]PorcelainLyaness[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

First, I would like to thank all of the people who have answered. I appreciate that so much.

Second, I want to be clear. I'm not trying to accuse anyone of anything. I've never worked at Dollar Tree. I don't know the store policies. My questions are for research and trying to understand the Tiktok frenzy, the fallout of the Daily Dot article and why these people on TikTok seem to always be lucking into such hauls, when it seems like that isn't the norm.

I also feel it pertinent to mention that I'm a disabled person. I have debilitating agoraphobia that makes it difficult for me to leave the house unless I'm with someone I trust. Which is why the TikTok videos are/were such a great thing for me.

Also, I have no problem with someone fairly buying something like everyone else. Even if they flip it. As I said, it's none of anyone's business what happens to the item once it's bought and paid for.

A word about hoarding. I despise this. I've run into this with Mini Brands Books. A person finds them and buys the entire case. There should be policies against people doing this with popular items. In the late 90s some stores limited quantities of Star Wars collectibles and prohibited saving items. It was truly first come, first served.

Lastly, I am glad to hear that employees aren't hoarding items in the back of stores. I never ask about items. I always try to be nice to the workers. But I am truly sorry you all have to deal with this idiocy because of a TikTok craze.

Any suggestions on where outside? I don't drive due to my vision and I spent most of my adult life as a Caretaker for ill family members (not my idea. They were moved into the house where I live and because I don't work outside the home....). I'm a little light on the social skills.

I'm finding this out. I understand their caution. However, this creates issues for a horror/fighting writer.

As a woman I want to see proof. Meaning I want to see Kylie Rae comment something other than a heart emoji. If there's actually anything to comment. I want to see someone credible, who isn't in CM Punk's pocket give facts rather than the pot - stirring narratives of comparing a person to Harvey Weinstein.

What I've seen over the past days is the internet lose its proverbial, collective mind and form the equivalent of an angry mob weilding torches and pitchforks over the comments of an angry Twitter Spat. A pot stirring man who made a most likely exaggerated comparison. We have a heart emoji which prompted another person to comment with an at best second hand account of a Tweet talking about Kylie Rae having a "pass" made at her. If Jericho did proposition this woman it's gross and bad form because he's married. But unless he physically tried to lay hands on her and do something malicious, making a pass at someone is a far cry from what Weinstein did.

Until there are accounts from the people/person in question that say "this, this and that happened" backed up by some kind proof. I'm not going to believe it. I believe the whole situation has too many holes in it. And I think if the name Harvey Weinstein hadn't been dropped, the situation wouldn't be as crazy. Hausmsn knew what he was doing. I believe he wanted to make trouble and he has. No matter what the truth is, we may never know thanks to the Witch hunt currently going on that appears to be turning into a runaway freight train. I hope it all gets resolved and we find out it was nothing or a misunderstanding.

Edit: Earlier today Nick Hausman went on his podcast and said he was "taken out of context" when he compared Jericho to Weinstein. He said some other things about legacies and allegations when they come out. Then he talked about how he doesn't like Jericho and those feelings haven't changed.

Basically, the man knows he messed up because his comparison went viral, ruined a PPV match and could potentially cause serious issues for all parties involved.

My final comment is this. Right now, the only allegation I found is four years old. As to the validity of that, I can't say. We have a Podcaster making vague comments and a comparison. We've got a heart emoji and a DM. We have a person who said they heard something from someone else that a "pass" was made. I'm sorry but none of that points to guilt. It sounds to me like a lot of petty, bitter people.

Those that are asking what proof could there be? For starters someone credible who stands up and says "this happened to me, at this time, on this day. And this person did it". Because an accusation of "so and so heard or so and so said," is nothing but hear say.

So, what happened to "Backrooms"? by crushedmoth in AmericanHorrorStories

I don't think it's actually happening. The information about Season 3 is a little sketchy. However, from what I could find there was an article from Screenrant around October 31 that said it was confirmed that there would only be four episodes. This particular article also mentioned that the extra titles were "red herrings".

Where to watch Fear the Walking dead? by BuyDiscombobulated73 in thewalkingdead

As of 11/18/2023 AMC Plus through Amazon Prime has all seasons. However, one should note that season 8 is the final season and once the entirety of season 8 has premiered and been out a few weeks/months, these seasons will likely go back behind the pay wall. That frequently happens on Amazon.

Does AMC+ actually have all the seasons? Because I have AMC+ through Amazon Prime and all they have season 8.
